    Randy,

Your web page states that you earned the MPA and Ph.D. from LaSalle. Was this before the 1997 reorganization?

This is just the kind of "shotgun" comment that serves no good. Direct it at the guy making the comments, rather than both parties. I asked him to stick to the issues.

Would it be reasonable to conclude that LaSalle degrees awarded before the FBI shut them down were sold by a diploma mill, and that degrees from LaSalle under their new ownership would be no different than those from Kennedy-Western, Century, and others from schools in states with little or no enforcement of standards?

My understanding is that Louisiana requires its unaccredited schools to be on an accreditation track, and that the DETC took a pass on LaSalle/Orion.

LaSalle University/Orion College doesn't offer the doctorate anymore. I see from www.distance.edu that the owners advertise both, rather than having Orion replace LaSalle. LaSalle serves continuing students while Orion takes on the new ones. About accreditation of Orion they say, "Its goal is to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as an accredited college." Uh huh.

    Just wondering....

Chip, sorry I took the cheap shot.

Russell, Finished the Ph.D. May, 2000, currently completing (May) a certificate program at Duke. Will start a RA MBA in June. I discussed the LaSalle ordeal at length in the Deja.com Alt. Ed. Forum. If you want more info either take a look at the Deja archives or send me an email.
