Jeff from your analogy instead of attacking Iraq (Cuba) we should have attacked Saudi Arabia (Venezuela) right? Since the ones from SA attacked us, and Iraq had nothing to do with it we should just leave Iraq alone.

Lets see, Iraq is/was not a threat to us or our allies? Iraq is not evil; we just say they are to justify the means? Is that your position?

What started all of this with Iraq? Did Kuwait take over Iraq, murder, and rape many innocent people while doing so? What leader is it that publicly declared he would send the families of suicide bombers big money for their deeds? What leader/country was it that violated all the many UN resolutions? What leader was it that brutality used WMD’s on his own people? What leader/country abused, and killed people for his own entertainment?

I think our first priority in the war on terror should be Osama and his gang, and Bush may have gotten too focused on Sadam. But, do you not think the world is a much safer, and better place without him? Sadam would have still been a major problem, and concern 20 years from now. I did not vote for Bush, and may not this time, but I am glad he has the balls to do things right or wrong. Those who seem to never make a mistake never seem to do anything, but always like to criticize those who do.

What is misinformation, what are facts?
What country has actually dropped nuclear warheads on other countries?
What country has had an "off" and "on" policy of killing foreign leaders? With the policy currently "on"
What country openly admits to having weapons of mass destruction?
What country allegedly tested various weapons of mass destruction on it's own population?
What country has had it's nuclear weapons testing result in high levels of strontium 90 in certain parts of its population and food supply?
What country is apprehending indiviudals and holding them in a manner in violaton of the geneva convention?
What country had injured members of it's own national guard housed in substandard facilities?
What country is cutting benefits to it's own war veterans?

Unfortunately America is sitting and "watching the slaughter" in North Korea; a country that has a dictator who has starved over one million of his own people to pay for his military machine.

China is another example. China is a dictatorship that has violently persecuted innocent people, religious groups and political dissenters yet America trades with them and treats them as an ally.

It is hard to buy this American belief in superior morality when it comes to liberating the oppressed from certain murderous dictators when they are dealing with other murderous dictators/regimes on the side.

    irat;

If you hate the U.S. so much, I would be most pleased to buy you a one-way, first-class, airline ticket to the third-world destination of your choice.

Where did he state that he "hates" the United States?

I criticize my governments policies regularly, it does not mean that I hate my nation. I simply am exercising my right to criticize that which I disagree with. Irat is likely doing the same thing.

This is part of the beauty of "freedom."

Why? Irat is excersing the freedom that America supposedly cherishes by criticizing past U.S. government actions.

Inviting someone to leave the country for expressing an unpopular opinion does not seem to be honouring the spirit of freedom in my humble opinion.

What other country would some of you rather live in?

What country handles things better than the US?

I am damn proud to live in the US no matter if Reagan, Clinton, Bush, or Carter is in the White House. This country may not be perfect, but it is far better than the majority of the rest of the world. I get so tired of people demonizing their own country. Go try to complain about the Gov. in Cuba, Iran, Korea, China, Saudi Arabia, and see how things turn out. Some of these countries have to work to keep their people in, and the US has to work to keep people out. Have you ever thought that maybe it ain't so bad here?

New Zealand, Australia, Scotland to name three.

The answer would depend on ones personal moral, political beliefs and standards.

I am sure many believe that the U.S. handles things quite well, while others will not feel that way.

Again, that depends on your personal perspective and beliefs.

Criticizing government policy is not the same as demonizing ones nation.

Maybe it is not so bad there. But what is bad should be addressed. That is what freedom is all about.

Wherever you are stay there. We have enough american bashers in our own country. Just think of this though before you continue on with your dislike of our country. If another mad man rises up Hitler, Sadam, Osama, etc. and goes after your great country who will you most likely call? When your country gets some great plague, epidemic, or has a disaster then who will you start yelling for? When your economy goes to crap who usually bails you out? Just something for you to think about.

When did I state that I am ever coming to your country? I am quite happy where I am thank you.

Has it ever occured to you that not everyone in the world wants to come to America? There are other wonderful freedom loving nations in the world that have much to offer.

Of course, anyone who criticizes American government policies must hate America...right?

My nations armed forces. America is not the only nation with a military and police force you know?

My nations emergency response professionals. America is not the only nation with hospitals, paramedics, firefighters, doctors and emergency response teams you know?

My government. America is not the only nation with economists, businessmen and industry you know?

Let me guess...you are a Republican aren't you?

    plscott defending American cause???

    plscott,

Your radical views are making it very difficult for those of us who being foreigners love America. Your views don't represent the spirit and the ideals of the U.S. I encourage you to re-read the U.S. Constitution slowly, trying to understand the nobility of feelings of those who wrote it. It is truly an emotional, beautiful document. What you say (and you have been saying thus far) could hardly fit in such a remarkable declaration.

People have the right to disagree with current U.S. policy. That is not US bashing, and it is not a lack of patriotism whatsoever. Reread Alexis de Tocqueville to understand that the greatness of your nation was built thanks to many who disagreed, who believed in other options, and dared to express it.

    No!

Neither a repub. or a dem. I have voted across both lines, and have not voted for either side for president since 1988. I am independent, and I have issues with both sides.

Let me guess...you are French aren't you?

    Just to return the volley.

I have no problem with anyone criticizing the US now, and then. But, when do some of you bashers ever say things good about the US. Constant complaining, pissing and moaning about how the US is wrong about this and that, but never offering a solution about anything other than ignore it. What would your country have done after the 911 attacks, or do you think that the US brought those on itself? What would your country do about the West Bank?

    JLV:

My views are not radical, and I do not really care if you love the benevolent US of America or not. I agree with you that people should be able to voice their opinion, and protest their arguments. It is the ones that constantly complain about everything about this country that I would along with many others just as soon see get out. If you don't like it why stay here, and bitch. Go somewhere where you can be happy.

No. Is there something wrong with being French?

What makes me a "basher?" I do not believe that I have "bashed" anyone or anything?

We would have finished off Al-Qaeda and the Taliban instead of wasting military resources going after a country that had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks.

My country would not arm and fund one side of the mideast conflict.

By the way..."The Road Map" to peace was a joint U.S., European and Russian plan not solely a U.S. creation. Several countries (including the U.S.) can take credit for peace efforts in the mideast conflict.

I don't know, is there something wrong with being Republican?

Yea, they would probably sit back and not do anything, and let the one side receive support from all their neighbors, and drive the other side into the sea. Great plan. Let's see free country (Isreal), or terrorist lead dictatorship (Arafat's PLO). Tough decision huh?

    Democrats say yes! :D

You are right, my country would not support and arm a nation with a well documented abysmal and frightening human rights abuse record.

What is really insulting is how people like you support a state like this but try to justify a war against Iraq in the name of "human rights" and liberating the oppressed.

Talk about hypocrisy! Please sir, do not insult my intelligence again by presenting such a hypocritical argument
