This film is excellent. The speech therapist used the title 'Dr', yet he had no academic qualifications whatsoever. He was exposed by the experts (even the Archbishop of Canterbury) as a 'fraud', yet he did the job for the king and ended up with a knighthood! Now he is getting an Academy Award!

It's indeed a great movie! However it's made clear in the film that he didn't claim the title "Dr" for himself, and freely admitted he had no official credentials. Whether or not that is historically accurate I don't know but that's how it was portrayed in the film. (ie, "You're not a real doctor!" / "I never claimed to be a doctor, my advertisement just says speech therapist.")

Geoffrey Rush, who played the speech therapist, was a "best supporting actor" Oscar nominee but he did not win the Oscar.

One of my favorite little websites is videoeta.com You can look up which movies are about to come out on video or you can look up a specific movie to see when it's going to hit the video stores. I'm looking forward to watching the King's Speech when it comes out on April 19th (which seems to be an early release).
