Once again a clean continuing resolution passed the House only because the Democrats decided to bail Johnson out.

I remember what then President Johnson said of his VP Hubert Humphrey.

So, a question. Who is really has the majority in the House?

The Republicans and Johnson still have the majority. While it is obvious that they cannot pass anything without Democratic support, the Democrats cannot pass anything at all.

I was almost certain that we would be facing a government shutdown about now. I now consider a government shutdown this year to be significantly less likely than a CR passing. Next year I'm lowering my prediction of a government shutdown from almost certain to more likely than not.

Strange. Speaker Johnson tells anyone who will listen that he's a Christian believer and that the Bible is his ultimate authority. Yet he has now announced that he is "all in for Trump".

Some levels of hypocrisy are beyond merely breathtaking.

Any thoughts on McCarthy elbowing Republican Tim Burchett in his kidney. Tim was one of the 8 Republicans that voted to oust McCarthy. I didn't think much of this until I heard that McCarthy had done a similar thing to Adam Kinzinger twice. This indicates a very troubling pattern by our last Speaker. I think it puts him into the jerk and or scum category.

Hakeem Jeffries is right. We must have no truck with this evil thing. Whatever the toady McCarthy might have been, Johnson is the genuine article.

I know this probably wasn't in response to my post but, from what I've heard about Mike Johnson's past, I would agree that Mike Johnson is probably a worse human being than McCarthy. However, just because there are worse human beings than McCarthy, it doesn't mean that McCarthy is good.

Like he wasn't before? I mean, what kind of people do you think make it to the top in Washington?

Because "I am a White supremacist" is still not quite ready for prime time. But it's coming.

Physical violence is wrong. His behavior is inexcusable. But there are a lot of fans of it.

Well, it's hard to be a Republican these days without also being a hypocrite. There are simply too many contradictions to square.

Didn't use to be like that. It used to be that Republican hypocrisy didn't rise to a level any different than Democrats'. Not any more.

I'm not sure Johnson is a White Supremacist. He is definitely a Male Supremacist and a Christian Nationalist.

Meanwhile the House went home early because the Freedom Caucus got its panties in a bunch over Johnson using Democratic votes to, you know, get something done?
