    see :D

And it was partly by independent study!

"Although he didn't attend general classes, the director wrote papers, worked on independent projects and consulted with professors to receive his bachelor's degree in film and electronic arts, according to his spokesman, Marvin Levy. "

Only 33 years late. I wonder what he could have accomplished if he had completed it on time?

  2. Interesting.

While we're on the topic of the entertainment industry, I was recently interested to see this LA Times article: Record Donation to UCLA. The article mentions that David Geffen, gazillionaire founder of Dreamworks, faked a UCLA degree in theater arts on his resume to get his first job in the industry, at William Morris Agency in Manhattan. So, sometimes the time bombs don't explode!

Sometimes they explode and it doesn't matter. When David Begelman was caught stealing from Cliff Roberts while an executive at Columbia Studios, it also came out that his claimed Yale degrees were fake. Roberts got blackballed and Begelman walked. He's still a big player in the industry.

Not quite so big today. In early August, 1997, David Begelman shot himself in the head while staying at L.A.'s Century Plaza Hotel Towers. If I recall, he was facing bankrupty and fraud charges at the time.

Spielberg was denied admission to USC's famous film school yet has donated millions to USC and is a member of USC's Board of Trustees.
