Recently mentioned in another thread, Shaq ain't no dummy. In this interview he talks about his various successful investments, his desire to open up his own schools and his plan to get a JD and pass the bar exam.

He seems rather sleepy in this interview, which isn't so surprising when you consider how incredibly busy he is. He doesn't need to earn another penny for the rest of his life, but doesn't stop working his butt off because he's trying to live 10 lifetimes in the span of 1.

I really like Shaq. He's the last of the "real" centers in pro ball. I miss the post play by a big guy. But even more, I like Shaq the guy.

When he was at LSU, his coach (Dale Brown) practically shoved him into the NBA draft after his junior year, even though Shaq was the key to LSU's basketball (and financial) success. (Brown was a guy who obviously took the long view.) Anyway, I like the fact that Shaq was a very rich guy, but he still made sure he got his degree from LSU, despite playing in the NBA.

(FYI, Julius Erving did this at UMass, too, through the University Without Walls program, no less!)

Since some people on this board have claimed that I've posted some disrespectful comments on Shaq, I wanted to re-emphasize that this was a misunderstanding in communication. I was quoting someone who did indeed say some rather nasty things. I totally disagree with the person. Just for clarity's sake. :)
