I am in for Atlantic City for summer 2004. I am sure it would be a collective fun for all of us. Thank you.

How about video streaming for those of us who cant make it to the conference? It would work perfectly with the theme, distance learning. Have vendors who could show their wares on the latest gadgets. How about Hoston? Fourth largest city, home of Super Bowl XXXVIII, 2004 Baseball All-Star Game. Just a thought.

I am not suggesting a location outside the US, merely an eligibility to attend from outside the US.

We Brits have along history of travelling outside our borders and unlike the US (surely an Urban Myth!) more than 9 per cent of our people hold valid passports and use them.

I am astonished at your last paragraph. Which possible countries (excluding Ireland, though we still count them as members; they can vote, live and serve in our armed services and have no immigration controls) wished our predecessors had stayed within our borders?

You can't mean the French (we were at Normandy too); you can't even mean the USA (we were shoulder to shoulder with you recently when the rest, with honourable exceptions, were not); as for the Commonwealth, few countries voluntarily leave, though they all can (indeed two new ones joined, Mozambique and Namibia); or the new members of the European Union.

I travel to the US regularly, so don't mind where we meet (I voted for Chicago, incidentally), but would only travel if we were included in the invitation.

How about a DegreeInfo convention on a 3-day cruise ship? :D

    Naw, better not.

The proposal was for interested members of the DegreeInfo community. On top of that everyone says that you can't have too many Brits. (With the minor execeptions of the likes of Hitler and Napolean.)

I would say yes to a cruise except for the generally poor (and expensive) state of Internet access on them... How would we resolve debates by searching the Degreeinfo archives? Could be difficult, indeed.

    Cheers,

    Dave

    Rules:

No circle dancing or any other activity involving a circle.

Gus has to bring his highest diploma to get in. At least we would know where he went to high school.

Millard Fillmore PhDs for everyone. Next time it can be the London Institute for Applied Research.

George Brown is not allowed to marry Elvis.

Theology students are required to attend a seminar entitled Beer, Burping and Barfing - the other trinity. Grades for class participation.

I wonder if we could get graduate credit for submissions? :)

I say that the location should be decided by the Super Bowl.

Boston if Pats win, or Charlotte if Cats win.

    How bout it?

Or Miami since Marlins won. If it happens in the winter I definitely vote Miami!

    What a splendid response.

My degree mill book manuscript heads for the publisher in two more days, all 754 pages of it*, and after a day or two of recovery, I will enjoy starting to think about returning to the real world, and reflecting on this project.

Professor Kennedy: "I assume members from the international community are eligible to attend? "

John: I have read about the splendid executive housing facility at EBS in Edinburgh. What low heavily-subsidised rates can we expect to pay per night when the chartered DegreeInfo DC-3 sets down at Edinburgh Airport? And is the haggis inclulded in the fee?

    __________
*That's 754 double-spaced one-side-of-paper Courier type; probably about a third as much when rendered into a book.
