WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden 's dog Commander bit or otherwise attacked Secret Service personnel at least 10 times between October 2022 and January, including one incident that required a hospital visit by the injured law enforcement officer, according to records from the Department of Homeland Security. Commander is the second dog of Biden's to behave aggressively, including biting Secret Service personnel and White House staff. They eventually sent the dog, a German shepherd named Major, to live with friends in Delaware after those incidents. The White House and the Secret Service appeared to play down the situation on Tuesday, but the latest incidents raise questions about why the Bidens brought another German shepherd to the executive mansion and why the attacks continued. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/biden-dog-commander-secret-service-attacks-bites-injuries-german-shepherd/ Who knows maybe dogs sniffed something they shouldn't ;-)
Pretty suspicious for two separate and seemingly otherwise well-behaved dogs to attack people multiple times. Just what were the SS agents doing to the dogs? Also, GSDs are known for being smart, fiercely loyal, and extremely brave. There are also so many documented cases of dogs in general (not just GSDs) being able to tell when an acquaintance of the family is a murderer or harms children before the owners are even aware of the situation. I'd be extremely wary of anyone attacked by those two dogs.
You bring up good points. I had dogs and cats all of my life and one thing I noticed is that my dogs always reacted to people who are nervous or tense. Dogs can sense nervous and or tense people, so its possible that some secret service people behavior due to the nature of their service irritates dogs.
I read an article about how the White House can be an extremely stressful environment for dogs with certain temperaments. There are many "strangers" walking around. So naturally protective breeds like German Shepherds can get very worried and agitated.
