It sounds like our friend simon (no credentails supplied) must be Catholic and running for Pope. At least he can pontificate on a subject.

Interesting. ODA approved the SCUPS PhD in Psychology. They did NOT approve the Psy.D!

Was this a conscious decision or did no one ask?

In an e-mail yesterday to Alan Contreras (ODA Director), I inquired as to why the SCUPS Ph.D. in psychology is approved by ODA and the CCU Ph.D. in psychology is not. Dr. Contreras stated that an Oregon resident who had a SCUPS Ph.D. in psychology had applied for approval and presented the required review materials. He stated that no Oregon resident with a CCU Ph.D. in psychology has applied for approval.

Mr. Contreras is playing his usual dirty politics again, and he will prove to be the greatest liability to the state of Oregon. He is in litigation with a student from Bob Jones University, and more will follow. His inconsistency, lack of reasoning and focused attacks are quite glaring, and the truth is about to be revealed. You may recall the case of a Berne U graduate (Dr. Dean Darris). Mr. Contreras has been rendered "impotent" in trying to get this guy to stop using his degree in Oregon. In fact, when Clackamas Community College revised their catalogue recently, Dr. Darris’ degree was maintained, and a PhD from CCU listed by another faculty was removed. Mr. Contreras is well aware of this. Contrary to what Mr. Contrary has posted on “his” web site, Berne University credentials are well recognized
in the State of Oregon. Had he been a little smarter, he would have passed the Bar exam, and not be so bitter.

Why would the ODA be "in litigation" with a student from Bob Jones? What is being litigated, precisely?

Could you give us an instance, any instance at all, where Mr. Contreras has been inconsistent, has shown a "lack of reasoning" or engaged in "focused attacks"?

Why are they recognized? By whom? As what?

I have asked repeatedly for some evidence of intellectual life at Berne university. You have appeared out of nowhere as their champion, so I'm putting the challenge to you:

Please give me references to published research by Berne scholars. I would like some examples of presentations made by Berne scholars at academic conferences. Let's see some examples of research collaboration with better known universities. Has Berne ever won any research funding from governments, corporations or foundations? Have its scholars ever received any awards or other recognition? Can you give us any examples of professional organizations referring to Berne favorably?

Berne purports to operate multiple Ph.D. programs but seems to be an academic and scholarly non-entity. It has gone out of its way (and physically out of the country) in order to avoid the scrutiny of accreditors.

That doesn't mean that it is substandard. But it does mean that the burden of proof is squarely on Berne (and on its champions) to demonstrate its credibility in some other way. How is up to you, but you've gotta do it.

So get off your butt Ricky, stop attacking Mr. Contreras for doing his job, and prove him wrong.

These are well made points. I strongly agree.

I don't much care for the Oregon setup and I am not an admirer of Alan Contreras, but I surely don't see the reason for the gratuitous attack on the fellow.

I agree on all three counts.

This is all very familiar. Funny that someone posting just four times has such strong views on a very obscure topic. Unless "four" is just representative of this incarnation....
