Check this out! Same photo, but utilized by two different universities... Penn State | Online Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences and Technology | Overview Colorado Technical University - Information Systems and Technology Plagiarism? Who stole the photo from who?
It is common practice to find the same stock photos from the Microsoft clip art gallery or other collections at various colleges and universities. This is obviously what has happened here. It is also true that diploma mills often copy entire websites (e.g. course descriptions) from other unviersities.
Watch any tv as of late and you will note that there is also "extra diversity" in ads that are being run. Which I find odd.... And this is nothing new, you find it all the time. Uni's all just buy these pics.
The use of stock photos is very common in many different industries. Stock photos are purchased from places like Getty Images, I Stock Photos, and others.
You can also buy them from Staples. They come on a CD. I think universities should hire their own photog, marketing, communications or art students to do professional quality pictures for their sites.
Especially for a place like Penn State. It looks like they bought that stock photo from a Kinko's CD or something. Abner
If you saw some of the girls here in Tampa at USF, you would realize the benefits of posting actual student pictures.
I'm sending an email to PSU about this. It may seem like it shouldn't be a big deal, but PSU is a large, popular school and they should not be using cheesy stock photos. Stock photos serve a purpose, but in this situation I would rather see real PSU students.
Tampa Bay is the birth place of Hooters but no Hooters is more impressive than the one right by USF. It is like walking into a Miss Universe competition with beer and wings!
