Never heard of the individual or the religious order. Appears to be a worthy cause worth championing though!

I just realized that there's probably a pretty hard-wired connection between this school in the original post and Assam Don Bosco University in India because, hey, let's face it, those Salesians get around

Yes, they do. They're the religious order of the Roman Catholic Church that runs the University. From the site: "Don Bosco University is a project of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) executed by Don Bosco Society, Azara, Guwahati..."

I'm pleased to learn that "Salesianity" is not a combination of "sales" and "Christianity." At first sight, I thought the word applied to the practices of various TV preachers.

There's a Salesian high school in suburban LA that has been (sorta) high profile for a long time: Don Bosco Tech in Rosemead.

Like all the Salesian high schools, I think that it specializes in enrolling poor kids and preparing them for college.

And back in the 1960's and 70's, Don Bosco Tech was an early adopter of what was to become 'Geek chic'.

Here's their cheer (gotta love it):

    Secant, tangent, cosine, sine
Three point one four, one five nine
Slide rule, slide rule, sis boom bah
    Bosco Tech, beat them raw!

I attended St. John Bosco elementary school in San Antonio. Texas. I enjoyed my Salesian education with the nuns.

Many years ago, my sons attended St. John Bosco elementary school in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. Catholic school, but lay teachers - not nuns or priests. I'd be willing to bet there are quite a few schools of this name.
