Ok, I have a couple of lives to lead...so excuse me if I don't have time to screw around with the spell check. I'm not a great typist on my laptop which is new and I'm not used to. I don't feel I have to treat posting on message boards as a term paper to be graded. Nor will I ever. I came here for fun, I know what SRU thinks of you, but I can think for myself, thank you very much.

I have not lied intentionally, and if some of my statements were not 100% accurate it's because I may not remember each tiny detail.
Fact: I assumed I would get my degree via transfer of credits.
Fact: They required my RA university to send the transcripts to them.
Fact: They never taught but made me work almost a year on essays and research projects.
Fact: I have never purchased the text books required, but I researched the authors and books on the net and wrote my essays agreeing with or disagreeing with the authors.
Fact: I will not supply you with any of my work as it's not worth the effort. I can't win here no matter what I say or do.
Fact: I have never started a thread at SRU making fun of others
looks or lack of good looks.
Fact: A few months ago, my son who is a boarding school,
threatened to blow his brains out and I had a 3 hour drive to get there in the middle of the night. It was members or SRU who stayed on the cel phone with me to keep me awake during the long drive and gave me a hell of lot of support. My son is Bi-polar
and it's been a rough go. One can not chose to their friends,
but one can chose to be a friend.
Fact: My son and his problems has made me realize I don't have time for enemies, and I can't be a friend to everyone...I have to chose...

you didn't make the cut. Sorry. It really is your loss, as I am loyal
and devoted to those who need me.

Fact: actually, damn it....if you ever need me....I probably would move heaven and hell to help you.

Fact: I have faced an inquisition here, yet my questions were not answered.

Fact: SRU advises it's faculty and students not to post here, and I came just for fun assuming their were decent people here. There are....but the few who chose to interrogate me with questions that I can't answer and call me a liar make SRU look like a
collection of decent people far moe than I ever realized.

Fact: I can and have done some digging of my own, and now I know why the smoke and mirrors, throwing doubt on to me, to
distract others from somethings I have found out about a few here.

Fact: Most people here are decent and fun. Pity, I would have loved to have gotten to know you kind people better.

    Adios,
    Deb
I'm out of here now, as I'm not stupid enough to sit here and be insulted and doubted...

oh...that's your cue for the last word....hint, hint, you are supposed claim that I'm running because I have something to hide.....I do believe that's your line...

    Hi Deb

Your post was long and rambling so I am not really sure what your point is. You repeatedly defend SRU, but in your own posts you admit you didn't even buy one textbook.

I am glad you have good friends. Good or bad, being a friend is not part of University level requirements.

There is no question about SRU. It is a clearly a degree mill that sells degrees for money. They clearly are a US business that masqurades as a Liberian school to perpetuate fraud. I can see why they wouldn't want their "students" posting here. It casts a very bad light on them and brings attention to their fraudulent activities. If I were commiting crimes, I would try to keep it quiet too.

I believe you are intelligent enough to realize what SRU is and the reputation that follows it every where. If that is something you want to be associated with that is certainly your choice.

    She's ok...

but nowhere near as good looking as she thinks. And as to her question about me wishing my wife looked so good, I don't have to wish. The wife puts her to shame without any help from a plastic surgeon. And besides, my wifes degree's come from real schools. :D :D

    Dave,
I think I will answer, after all tis a woman's perogative to change her mind. The point is that I can only speak from my own experience. And I will defend them as decent people due to
the crisis I mentioned. No one can deny me that.

Questions I had went unanswered and I was called a liar.
My spelling or bad typing seemed to be a major issue.

I'm still waiting for any light on fake embassies, etc. I state
again I can think for myself and would truly like to learn
the true facts in a gracious, professional, and mature manner.

After the crisis with my son, it's going to take a lot more
to push my buttons. I don't inconvenience easily.

I have been on many message boards, and chatting for years,
and I've never ever been called a liar, or criticized for goofing around, having fun and not paying attention to my grammar.
Through the years, I've never had anyone mis-understand me....
rambling though it may be....I've never had the difficulties in making friends and getting to know people as I have here.

I should have taken my time in my pasts posts to reply
after thinking it through a day or so....I didn't realize a game of hard ball was going on.

So, if my point is missed, it's a first....I simply like to meet new people have fun and goof around a lot.

    Re: She's ok...

    OK,
my first degree comes from a real school....and as far as your wife...I have no idea who you are, or what your wife looks like, I envy her for not need help from a plastic surgeon, if she's as old as I am (44)....and looks good, I applaud her..I think this nation needs more women my age proving that youth and beauthy are one thing, but age and beauty also exist and should be promoted.
And I didn't have that much help from the surgeon, I went from nothing to something. I am so sorry you misunderstood my site,
and I admit it was completely negligent for me to leave that up.

    Again I apologize....

The site was for a narrow minded idiot from another chat room....
it was not meant for everyone. That's why the web site has my last name mispelled. So only people I give it to will find it.

I'm sorry for ruffling feathers....I came here just for fun.....
I"m off to revise the offending page.

    Hi again Deb

You do understand that your crisis and any response to it has nothing to do with SRU's fraudulent activites? As to the fake embassy web sites erected by SRU it is all in the archive. All you have to do is search for SRU and embassy.

You can understand how a site dedicated to learning is likely to place more emphasis on at least basic grammer and spelling. When someone shows up defending a degree mill, it is even a little more relevant. If that is surprising to you, you may want to take some time to think about it.

It also is important to note that it is illegal to use a SRU degree in several states. At some point I wouldn't be surprised if the FBI or Homeland Security gets interested in SRU. They have gone after other degree mills in the past.

In any event I wish you well and thank you for your response.

Ok, point noted, I'll defend them as people, and
my bad grammar is mostly bad typing, and actually due to
the traditional university I attended. Sadly,
most member of the music dept. will never work outside of this state as soon as they open their mouth, they would not be granted an audtion. And I'll do some checking on the fake embassy.
But from here on out, can we please just have fun, get to know each other and not put each other on the spot?

    Deb,
For your own protection I suggest that you not list the SRU degree in your resume. It's not a problem to have it on your wall at home to show your friends, but in all honestly you are playing with a ticking time bomb. If you apply for a job and your prospective employer finds out that your degree is a "dud", you will not only lose your job but also your credibility. SRU is listed as a degree mill in the State of Oregon Web Site.
    warmest regards,

  12. Deb you ARE OK...

I apologize for taking cheap shots at you.... ;) It was all in fun on my end too, and you can obviously take it and have come back with decent responses, and a genuine humanity that I appreciate. In the future I'll be nicer....

I still think the SRU degree is a bad thing though, and I wish you the best in your life and endeavours, hoping that you will see all sides of the story and make the best choice for yourself.

Please do keep posting here - I, for one, enjoy your presence and your maturity in being able to respond intelligently to our jibes without losing it.

    1) The Oregon list is a meaningless mix of legitimate and less than legitimate schools.

    2) I am against schools that offer degrees with a credit card and a resume or for minimal work.

    3) CCU is on the Oregon list but hey - I don't live in Oregon and I am sure hoping for accreditation before I'm done.

I use my MSW and MA in music therapy from Spain,
the dept. heads decided attendance wasn't mandatory,
I just checked in twice a year and my 2 nd cousin is a student there who help with my translations of the coursework I did.
Those are 2 tools I intend to use when I teach music,
as I want to teach only to kids with learning disabilities.
    Years ago as a piano/voice teacher a local speech/auditory
pathologist recommended private piano/instrumental/voice lessons to help a student with an input/output disorder.
Throughout the years 17 our of 22 students in my studio had some sort of diagnosis or learning disorder. I had the reptuation in my small town of sucess where other teachers failed.
The reason is that I have a bi-polar son and an oppositional defiant son, and used what I learned in therapy with my children
and applied it to how I taught. With out realizing what was going on. When I found out that my studio was functioning as a medical
treatment of sorts, I realized I was slugging it out on the front lines alone..I chose a double masters from spain to give me an excuse to go there more often...I love the place and
my teachers learned from me as well....the OSHA requirements
in the US aren't taught in Spain....
Now about being OSHA compliant, I know about that stuff as I co-0wn a veterinary hospital due to the community property laws of louisiana. And I've worked there for 20 years with hubby as manager.
Also the small christian non denominational schools here don't believe in counseling unless the counselor is a licenced Christian counselor....which I might pursue.

So I would like to pursue a part time career in a private conservative school.
That's the background on me....I still continue to learn how to share the joy of music and study when I can get up to Omaha with my favorite composer, a Mr. Berkey who has a master's from Julliard. Mr. Berkey and his wife have actually been good friends and thanks to e-mail allowed me to consult when I'm having trouble getting through to a student. The Berkey's have labeled me a musical adventurer, and they have allowed my students back stage at their concerts and spent a lot of time answering their questions. I must be the only piano teacher to take students on field trips. ahhhh I'm reliving old memories...
The Berkeys are performers in a group well known for their Christmas music, Mannheim Steamroller.
So, the more I learn, the more I realize how ignorant I am...
    ironic isn't it.

I think you guys have just made a new friend down here in the south....

    Deb:)

Incorrect, the ODA site is the place that lists some examples of schools that issue degrees that are illegal for use in Oregon. The website is absolutely accurate for that use. Perhaps you meant something different from what you said but, what you said was plain wrong.

If the degree is illegal for use in multiple states that would seem like a problem to many people. Many people are concerned about breaking the law even if it's not a felony. The point being that unlike driving 10 mph over the speed limit, investing significant time and money in a degree program that very well could turn out to be illegal to use someday will cause many people to consider other options.

The Oregon list is a list of schools whose degrees are illegal for use in Oregon. That means that they are not legitimate for use in Oregon. I assume that CCU will be removed from that list if/when it is accredited. At which point I think you will owe the Oregon ODA a debt of gratitude because I'm sure that it's a perfect example of why CCU went for accreditation if not a directly contributing factor in their decision to become accredited.

Not incorrect, maybe I will state it another way. The ODA site is there primarily for Oregon, not the rest of the US. So what good does it really do outside Oregon. If a guy lives in California or Florida or in Dennis' case, Canada, then who cares what Oregon says; or is Oregon the be all and end all of education in the States.

Some states have different laws and I am sure that most students enrolling and graduating from some of these better schools are not planning on intentionally breaking the law in Oregon on purpose (bearing in mind they only become subject to the law once they use them in Oregon); then again the Oregon law would have been created retrospectively to many graduates of these schools . That is a constitutional law issue and I am not going to go into that now.

So I partly agree with Rich and Dennis on this one.
