I've been following "Fake PhD Investigator" on X and was surprised to read how Rashad Richey inflated his academic credentials through the various news sites he owns. I'm disappointed as I used to hold his commentary in high regard, even when I disagreed. Here's part one of the sleuthing:

I suppose Richey is still enjoying his success.

Wow, there are a few people on this website list, interesting how these people actually got up to their C-list positions or similar without the company doing background checks as they should be doing...

Bio: "Dr. Richey has been appointed by major governmental entities and civic organizations to navigate complex policy issues. He is known for his political expertise and legal knowledge, completing studies at Azteca University earning a Doctor of Law (LLD-ABD) in International Law and a Master of Laws (LL.M) in Human Rights Studies from the University of Renaissance. Dr. Richey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy & Religion and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Beulah Heights University located in SE Atlanta, GA and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology from Ecole Superieure Euro-Americaine.
Wanting to understand more about the functionality of the human brain, Dr. Richey embarked on an intensive journey that included completing executive education in Medical Neuroscience from Duke University and obtaining his Master of Science degree in Neuroscience from the University of Pacific, where his master’s thesis critically analyzed neuronic brain activity and hemispheric harmonization through physics-based processes. His research led him to invent the Bilateral Neuronic Hemispheric Harmonization Brain Entrainment Device (BNHHBE), which received provisional patent status from the United States Patent & and Trademark Office. The BNHHBE utilizes unique quantum dynamics, sound wave frequency technology, vibracoustics, hemispheric biofeedback to increase neuronic activity, and brain plasticity, enhancing cognitive functionality. Early research indicates the device and patented process is also effective at lowering blood pressure, increasing restfulness, and improving circulatory functions. Dr. Richey enhanced his knowledge of quantized and energy-centric neurological modalities through the University of Florida’s Energy Medicine Certification program.
A multidisciplinary scholar, Dr. Richey’s journey into physics did not follow the traditional academic path. After completing 43 full-length courses in physics and physics-related disciplines from 2005 – 2023 through MIT’s Open Course Ware program (non-degree program), Dr. Richey enrolled in a Master of Science program in Applied Physics and Quantum Mechanics at Universidad Empresarial, where he finished his master’s degree in January 2023. His master’s thesis was adapted into a book and quickly became one of the best-selling physics books on the Amazon platform titled, “Ancient Egyptian Mastery of Quantum Physics, Vibratory Frequency, and Geometric Sciences: An Overview of Complex Scientific Applications in Ancient Cultures”, which highlights several of Dr. Richey’s newly proposed physics theories, including the quantum phantasmagoria effect and quantum neuro-mechanics. Dr. Richey’s research interest led him to gain acceptance as a Research Fellow at the Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS) through the School of Life Information Sciences, an achievement boasted by less than 1% of the scientific community."

If Universities awarded degrees in LYING, this guy could have qualified as a Professor ANYWHERE! I read the whole sickening account. All the bad schools and bogus credential places. I'm unwell - I have to lie down...

I’ll have to read through tomorrow on my way to watch Duke vs. Houston in the Sweet 16.

I remember hearing of Dan Ariely but it was in a Poets & Quants article.

The article mentions California University Foreign Credential Evaluation - the fake evaluation service, also discussed here.

With all the money, time, and effort Richey spent inflating his ego with fake degrees and self-awarded accolades within his news empire - he could have conferred legitimate degrees for cheaper in less time. This expose is only part 1 - which gives me enough time to pick my jaw off the floor. Once part 2 is published, I'll have to sit down before reading.

Part one of the investigation was highly informative. I am looking forward to reading the second part, but I remain slightly more skeptical concerning this part. What does this mean: "The upcoming part 2 of this investigation will deal with Rashad Richey’s homophobic views and his longstanding association with far-right figures."? I remember watching a clip commenting on an accomplished black man known for befriending and associating with KKK members, which can be seen as praiseworthy, at least I would see it as such. I don't want to get into any further political discussion on this board, as promised earlier. But I do wonder about this supposed crime of association. But we'll see what kind of incriminating evidence he brings up in the second part. If it has to do with hypocrisy (a left-wing commentator hiding right-wing associations), it might still make sense to expose it. But I am just a little cautious with this part.

    The mentioned clip with KKK:

Never heard of the guy until now. Very strange to say the least. Equally an interesting study in how he has managed to get news organizations and others to promote his "achievements" without much scrutiny as if he is a savant.

Oh well. That explains why I could not find that law school he graduated from. Hurt by this information.

Claims one of those Nicaraguan dual degree options (this one is University of the Pacific or something).

A PhD is 120 credits. Kind of pricey for an unaccredited degree. I suppose if you could pull off the Nicaraguan angle it might work out. Eventually the legit foreign credential evaluators will become a little skeptical of Nicaraguan dual degree programs.

There is an organization that might handle this aspect (it is also mentioned on the St. Magnus accreditation page):

"Advanced Learning Institute™ is an international agency maintaining partnerships with accredited, government-recognized universities to provide students with the opportunity to have their work history, formal/informal education, and life-skills portfolio assessed at all degree levels (with proper qualifications), "

But it looks like the Nicaraguan university (https://pacific.edu.ni/accreditations/) has disappeared from the establishment list here; https://cnu.edu.ni/.

Does Richey have any genuinely accredited degrees?

I was watching one of the later videos Johnnie Walker Dread posted going through his LinkedIn. Interesting.

He gets some things wrong with regard to Azteca (doesn't understand the whole Proprio degree thing and what Azteca is authorized to do vs what the "international" arm is doing).

Walker did have someone comment he was racist for digging into this. Which may be why others are cautious. No one wants to be called racist for calling into question such a distinguished high achiever. But what a shame. Apparently, even the association of African American physicists invited this guy to speak. There in a room of genuinely high achieving PhDs in science he shares his wisdom. Mind boggling. Walter Mitty?

Walter Mitty? Mitty was a nice guy who just daydreamed. More Frank William Abagnale Jr.
