Penn Foster College Masters Degrees

I don't think this has been mentioned yet, but Penn Foster is now offering Master of Ed. degrees in "teaching and learning" or "educational technology" along with matching Masters Certificate programs.

On another note, they dropped the AAS Hospitality Management (which I am currently enrolled in) and added an AAS Fashion Merchandising program.

 

Dropped as in they no longer accept applications or dropped as in you won't be able to finish it?

 

Excellent. I wish them well. In regards to their admission requirements, I think it's a mistake for penn foster to restrict admission to those who are certified. There are many online regionally accredited graduate programs in education and cal coast does not require teacher certification as a requirement for admission. NCU made a similar business decision with one of their previous education programs. The program was restricted to certified teachers and low enrollments were the result.

 

Dropped as in it has disappeared from their website. I am still enrolled and working on the program. The materials are getting a bit dated, or perhaps enrolment in this program was too low - I am not sure. At any rate I am still going to be finishing it, and every single class in the program is ACE reviewed which is what I was really looking for. Most of the ones in the new program of course are not ACE reviewed yet.

 

M. Ed with PFC interesting.. it is not announced on their website at least not yet... but $265 for independent study and DETC accreditation seems a bit pricy... I wonder if school districs would take DETC degree for salary advancement etc .There are interesting RA deals like ACE or Morninside (where you an get a RA masters for a bit less than $5k)

yes but it is not announced on their main website, they only mention associatea and bachelors if you go to pennfostercollege.edu you wont see a link to the masters degree program. In fact you can read:

"Penn Foster College offers Associate and Bachelor's Degrees designed to give you the skills you need in today’s fastest growing fields."

Hello, In NJ a RA degree is a must. I imagine other states might be more open to a DETC degree but feel it would not be a cost effective way of achieving a graduate degree when other options ( Morningside transfer to Excelsior) are an option. Hille
