Well, I guess that shows, if anything more were needed, that the GOP is a fascist personality cult. Deeply scary.
fascism Any right-wing, authoritarian, nationalist ideology characterized by centralized, totalitarian governance, strong regimentation of the economy and society, and repression of criticism or opposition. It does sound a lot like Trump, does it not?
Maybe. Not the fascist part; that's real. But I don't know about scary. For a long time we've been waiting to see how the Republican "civil war" would turn out: MAGA or Establishment. MAGA looked like it was winning because of Trump, but with the House being the mess it's been, you wondered if the Establishment might take control again. No. When Emmer got just a few hours of sunlight before being banished to the Pointless Forest (Thanks, Harry) you wondered. Then when mighty-MAGA Mike Johnson got elected unanimously, you knew. But scary? The voters are the ones who scare me, not these chuckleheads. The voters are the ones with the power to decide. Like a drunk with a loaded rifle.
Credentials awarded by real colleges and universities to recognize the completion of particular curricula Probably a bad idea. It's as fictional as Faber College and Grand Lakes University Many do. Real ones. Unlike the ones sold by a diploma mill pretending to be a religious college. Oh, I think people can reserve the right to criticize them. I do. Said the troll.
Remember, many on the right see themselves as dedicated to free speech (now that their views are the unpopular ones) and that it's those on the left in Big Tech who are repressing their criticism and opposition. It doesn't help when so many people who are further to the left have come to deride the notion of free speech (e.g., people who mockingly use the term "freeze peach"). I gather also that many on the right conveniently stopped considering protectionism to be regimentation of the economy once Trump came out for it, even though it manifestly is. Tax cuts without concomitant spending cuts don't seem to bother them either. Nor did "stimulus" checks that came with Donald Trump's name on them. Nor Trump era deficit spending that, somehow, Democrats seem to be blamed for. Simply put, if you're keen on a market economy, then with friends like today's GOP, you don't need enemies.
