Opinions Wanted - Should I go for another MA?

Unfortunately, I don't know the first thing about getting published. Tempting idea, though.

I think you should shoot an email to Andy Hernandez at WNMU, Tell him you want to pick up 9 more history credits and do a thesis for the other 6. I'd cc Dr. Coleman too, explain what you are trying to do. I think the two of them will help if they can.....worth a shot.

 

Dr. Hernandez is great! But do you think you could do a thesis without actually doing a degree?

They do count as credits, right? When you have a good relationship with the right people anything is possible.....

 

Matt, I would put together an e-mail and send it to them both, as the MAIS chair I thin Dr. Coleman would need to be on board (and I think if its possible to do she would support it). Asuming you haven't already done a thesis with your degree I think explaing why you want it, and the end goal, you can develope a good case for it. Having Hernandez on your side should provide both the mentor for a thesis, and a supporter.....I don't know if it's possible, and I wouldn't be likely to propose the idea to some of th einstructors at WNMU...but it's worth asking.

I never took a class with Lavelle. I knew better. I did take three courses with Warren though, and I'd gladly take another. I just wish he would offer more Constitutional Topics than just Marshall.

In regards to this discussion, do you all think it would be weird to do a thesis outside of a degree program? If I went with APU and did the whole degree, I could also take the Historical Research Methods course, which might help.

It's totally true. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this community a few years back when I was doing my Walden MS. It was through this group that I found WNMU, and I sincerely appreciate everyone's help and comments. It's great because now that I've earned two degrees via distance, I'm able to chime in every now and then too. I've gotten several PMs from folks inquiring about Walden and WNMU, and I hope I've been able to give them the same quality of help that I've received.
