Oklahoma City Community College's online psychology degree named top 10 by Forbes Advisor https://finance.yahoo.com/news/oklahoma-city-community-colleges-online-170000997.html "OCCC's low tuition costs for in-state and out-of-state students, distance delivery methods, and student organizations and services such as the Psychology Club, Psi Beta National Honor Society, and the online Psychology Lab were all factors influencing Forbes Advisor's decision. "Rigorous online learning at Oklahoma City Community College is one of our pathways to student success," said Dr. Juanita Ortiz, vice president of academic affairs at OCCC. "We are thankful to Forbes Advisor for recognizing our online psychology program as one of the best in the U.S.""
Sure sounds like it - not the writer's finest hour, I'm sure. But lets' see what the program is all about and judge it on its perceived merits - or lack thereof. It's an Associate Degree in Psych. Not a Ph.D. It could be a useful start for some - depending what they want to make happen afterwards. Here's a link to the program - have a look - give it a chance... https://www.occc.edu/socialscience/psychology/#:~:text=Students can earn their Associate in Arts in Psychology completely online.&text=We offer many scheduling options,, hybrid, and online classes.
Tuition? Hard to find. All I could get: In State Tuition 100.84 per credit Out of State: 191.70 per credit. Both plus a bunch of fees. All shown on the link below. Nothing special I could find re: tuition concerning this Online Course. https://www.occc.edu/international/cost/#:~:text=Estimated tuition for one semester, your program, major, etc.
I know the OCCC President personally. Great lady. From what I have seen and heard, OCCC has made great strides. It is indeed a community college so you can only expect so much.
Good news - and it looks like a pretty good CC, to me. Despite some cheesy promo-writing. They have "micro-credentials," just like everywhere else. Some look pretty light, though - more like pico-credentials. I found one "micro" on Psychology of Women. 3 CREDITS - ONE COURSE! My take: Anyone who thinks they are going to develop a significant understanding of the Psychology of Women in a mere THREE credit hours is "Plumb Loco," as they used to say in some part of the Old West - maybe Texas, maybe Arizona... I'm not sure.
