National Technological University has merged with Walden University and will become known as NTU School of Engineering and Applied Science at Walden University. Part of the announcment of this merger included the following tidibt:

Anyone care to speculate how quickly (or realistically) that NTU might be able to introduce a doctoral program?

Their website reads: "Association with Walden will allow NTU to begin development of online and distance learning programs at the bachelor's and PhD levels to complement its master's degree offerings." www.ntu.edu/index.asp Given that they already have their NCA accreditation and Walden (www.waldenu.edu) already offers PhDs in Business, Education, and Psychology, Computer Science and Engineering PhDs would seem quite realistic. Just guessing, but I wouldn't see why it would take much more than two years to get those up and running.

    ABET?

Interesting to see Walden go down this road. I wonder if they will seek ABET accreditation for their programs and/or if they will require an ABET accredited degree from applicants as a requirement for admission.

Three years later, Walden PhD in Engineering still hasn't showed up yet. Sigh! :(

Yeah. That's strange. I do think that the engineering programs make money for Walden.

For the past ten years, I have been looking for a PhD in Electrical Engineering program that can be done mostly through DL. But couldn't find a suitable program so far. I prefer an US program, if not, then an UK program.

They somewhat do have a PhD in Engineering. They have the PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a concentration in Engineering Management:

I am not sure about the case of engineering programs making money for Walden, I know that at one of the community colleges where I am an adjunct, they have dropped some engineering programs, due to lack of enrollment, 2 faculty members also lost their full time positions, and 1 was retained on an as needs basis. So this may have happened to Walden also.
