Necrology of Colleges and Universities

The New York State Education Department maintains a nifty list of now-defunct or re-named colleges and universities so that alumni can figure out where to get their transcripts from:

I went through the list. Exactly two schools stood out from this board's perspective:

• Friends World College, which has since merged with Long Island University. FWC used to offer an innovative bachelor's degree, IIRC
• Regents College, now Excelsior University

I find it ironic that New York could be both so buttoned-up and the home of the most innovative degree program ever (tied with UWW). I blame/credit the Carnegie Commission.
