Post docs are also helpful for this, I know some people that finished doctorates in Africa, Pakistan, India and Latin American that were able to secure tenure tracks in Canada and the US after some years of post Doc at big name schools.

Universities need to attract research grants as this impacts their ranking and budget. If you show them that you can attract substantial grants, you should not have problems getting a tenure track.

I think that the bottom line is that schools like NCU are not there to train high caliber researchers. They provide mainly continuing education opportunities for people that want to expand their knowledge but are not interested in high caliber research careers.

Well, some private schools are starting to abuse as well even for full time positions. I interviewed once with Virginia International University, I remember the job required to teach something like 17 courses a year and the pay was under 60K a year. This is not far from online adjunct that pays about 3K a course.

Bottom line is that salaries are high at research Universities because there are few doctorates available that can teach there. If schools manage to graduate high caliber doctorates by using distance education, this will just drive the salaries down to Virginia International University level.
