    Hello, all.

Well, as you can see by the number of posts I've made over the past several years, I am not a frequent contributor. However, I am a consistent lurker. I check the boards every day...sometimes more than a few times. :)

I know that NCU is a frequent target here, so I decided that I would let everyone know...I face my committee this week for the oral presentation of my dissertation. Then, it's all said and done. I'm finished. I began late in 2007 and nearly dropped out many, many times. I had the desire to continue, and I'm glad that I did.

Please don't ask me what I plan to do now because I honestly don't know. I tire easily of so many people around here speaking about the ROI. What happened to just studying and researching because one WANTS to? How about because it's actually fun to learn something new...to go through red tape never before encountered...to say you did something for yourself and no one else...to say you did something, not because of the tangible monetary benefit, but because of the intangible benefits?

Anyway, thanks to degreeinfo, I completed degree programs from a distance at Charter Oak, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Northwestern State, American Public University, and yes, Northcentral. I have six degrees, and yes, they're all from different schools.

I thought that I would write to 1) Thank degreeinfo and 2) Let everyone know that, indeed, completing a doctoral journey can be hazardous and winding, but it can be accomplished...even with the often irritating roadblocks at NCU. Although some may be discouraging, if you have the desire, you just might make it. I did. :)

    Take care!

Way to go...just remember to request to graduate after you defend. Can you share the topic of your research?

What a great topic. That must have been fascinating to research. I'm playing around with dissertation topics right now, and I'm looking in similar areas, did you discover a related idea that you might suggest?

There should be some suggestions for future research.

    Hi, SurfDoctor.

Actually, there were several topics that caught my eye along the way, and my research could have gone in several similar directions. With a meta-analysis, I had to search for studies that pertain to my topic that were done over a certain period of time (within parameters). Along the way, I ran across some research in these areas that beg for a dissertation in a meta-analytical method (I chose to use the student side, obviously):

Faculty Satisfaction with Online Courses versus Traditional Courses
Same School, Same Course, Different Methods: Faculty (or Student) Perceptions of Effectiveness for the Identical Course in the Online Classroom vs. in the Traditional Classroom

    My best,

Congratulations on completing a long and arduous journey that most will only dream of.

What are the degrees in, especially the degree from APU???

I'm currenly enrolled in AMU's MPA program and am slowly taking one course per year until they achieve NASPAA accreditation (hopefully). After they achieve NASPAA accreditation, I'll go ahead and finish the degree requirements. I'll graduate in the year 2017 at the rate I'm going.
