According to my research, HR departments don't check and don't care.

Rich is dead on. I was intrigued by his finding that just a little bit of education about accreditation and diploma mills allowed the HR professionals to make much better decisions. Rich, your study really should be published in an HR journal and presented at HR conferences (http://www.hr-guide.com/data/006.htm)

I have been on a number of hiring committees where I was the only one in the room who was able to identify a candidate's questionable credentials. Just recently, I was given the resume of a candidate to teach online for me with a DBA from a "university" that I knew was not legit.

Tony, I appreciate the vote of confidence, but I've really moved on. This field (nontraditional education) was always a hobby with me, not a career. (Save for 1 year with UoP.) I did publish the findings in one journal, though. Now I'm working on my NBT :D, which should be done next year.

Could we get a citation, Rich? Or perhaps it is the following.

While trying to find it just, I did find this long and good article by Liz Lipton, in "Unique Opportunities: the physician's resource, which describes Rich's research, and includes a full-page color photo of him to boot:

I do recall Rich saying that he did publish it in a journal a little while back. I would like the reference as well, since I would prefer to cite the journal article, rather than the dissertation.

That's OK. I'll keep on using your research--with appropriate citations, of course :)

It was just an excerpt from my dissertation. I don't know if the journal is referreed--it didn't seem so:

Career Planning and Adult Development Journal, 20:2, Summer 2004.
