Any positives on Orion College. The MBA program is reasonable. I'm concerned about the accreditation. Any input would be appreciated. I'm 22 and graduated from Thomas Edison at 21. I'm trying to fast track a MBA as I did with my undergraduate work.

    Howdy!

If I understand correctly, the DETC has not announced Orion College as a candidate for accreditation; if this is the case, there isn't really any way of knowing whether Orion will be successful in its bid for accreditation (especially given its pedigree, which I'm sure some other folks here will tell you about--I'm rusty on the details). You can find a list of 197 accredited (or equivalent) distance learning MBA programs here, and some other folks on this board might be able to make more specific suggestions.

    Good luck!

Oh, heck, surely I can give a more helpful response than that...

    Fast track MBAs:

Heriot-Watt University, a +/-150-year-old school in Edinburgh, Scotland, offers an 100% exam-based MBA program that can theoretically be completed in as little as 7 months, though most folks take longer.

DETC-accredited Andrew Jackson University offers one of the cheapest (and, a few people have said, one of the easier) distance learning MBAs.

My own alma mater, California State University, Dominguez Hills, offers an online MBA. CSUDH is regionally accredited and cheap, a good combination.

The United States Open University is DETC-accredited and also a candidate for regional accreditation, and offers what seems to be a fairly inexpensive MBA by distance learning.

The 165-year-old University of London offers an MBA, inexpensively and in an examination-based format, in cooperation with Royal something-or-other and Sylvan Prometric.

And a final tip for navigating Jonnie's list: Australia has some really nice, really cheap programs.

    Good luck!

Minor point: DETC does not have a candidate status. Schools are either accredited or they are not. Orion is decidedly not, and gives no indication why one would think that will change anytime soon.

Quite correct; I had confused them with TRACS (a permissible error now, I think, given that both agencies are now CHEA-approved). But either way, Orion College has no official standing with the DETC, which is what I meant to say.
