Just a Legal Question for any Legal Folks

    Jim,

Is this even legal? It's one thing to say you're not qualified but to use bias against the "Capella" institution really seems unfair. Is there a possibility the candidates could potentially have a law suite for discrimination? Just food for thought, no argument intended.

    RFValve,

It seems that traditional schools are constantly coming aboard with DL programs and the enrollment appears to be constantly rising. Perhaps it will take falling enrollments or loss of market share ? Is market share an appropriate term for academia?

I believe I am a good example. If I wanted to attend Fairleigh Dickinson, New Jersey Institute of Technolgy, or other local traditional masters programs I could. Some have DL learning, but my very limited experience indicates that the for profit schools, like Capella, are doing it better. The situation seems similar to government vesus private sector. The private sector is superior in efficiency, management, and delivery of goods or they no longer exist. The tradional schools have enjoyed a monopoly, but I believe that monopoly is coming to an end.

And if so, what kind of school? Private? Public? Carnegie ranking? These details would certainly make a difference.

    Maybe it's a community college?

The problem with the Cont Ed schools are that often times they do not hold the ACCREDITATION of the other departments. For example, the business school holds AACSB, and the cont ed does not. You can get the cont ed "tehcnology" or "business mangement" degree in half the time, via distance. The only problem, is that it is not an AACSB accreditation.

This is what I feel, right or wrong, started the "bad wrap" for distance learning.

Thanks for the input that all of you have provided. I've registered for my first course at Capella in the MS Organization and Management program. Hope I made the right choice.
