That's a good list, but it's not totally comprehensive.

For example, Jacksonville State University is RA, AACSB, B&M, and cheap, and it's not listed.

So while the GetEducated list is a good start, don't limit yourself to that list alone.

JSU probably did not pay a fee to be on this list. The funny thing is that JSU is cheaper than all of the other schools on the list! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that JSU offers the best deal around for a DL AACSB accredited MBA.

    JSU or Amberton

so is JSU a better choice than Amberton ?

Yes. I'm no expert on MBA programs, but I've been hanging around here long enough to know that JSU is a better choice than Amberton. This is primarily due to the fact that JSU has AACSB accreditation. Now that's not to say that Amberton is a bad choice . Amberton is a perfectly legitimate RA school, offering a good deal on a DL MBA program. However, I believe that an MBA from JSU (or another school with AACSB accreditation) would help you go further in the business world. YMMV.

    Best of luck!

Actually that's entirely subjective. There is no good, better, best school, even in business schools, only good for you, better for you and best for you and your unique circumstances, needs and abilities.

For instance in North Texas, Amberton has a pretty good reputation among employers, I know several alumni, a few of which are in hiring positions who actively seek other Amberton alumni to hire.

actually i am a liitle bent towards Amberton, because i live in Dallas area...but its just that it doesnt have the AACSB accreditation that makes me think about other colleges. If this accreditation is required in the busniess world, might as well go for a college which has it .....

looking for more options now .....your suggestions will help me friends .....

You had mentioned wanting a Texas program but in my opinion the best of for this type of program may be Mississippi State's MBA-PM:

    MBA-PM

The cost is more but for an AACSB program it's a pretty good deal.

If you can stray from an MBA then this program at Alabama may be a good fit:

    MA Global Business Management

In reality the PMP is the industry standard for Project Management so almost any MBA will work if you have the PMP. If you aspire to senior management then look for the larger school and more prestigious program.

i completely agree with you, that if i need to get into senior management, i should opt for a better school. maybe full time.

But will it make a MAJOR difference , if I pass out from a mediocre-not very prestogious MBA DL program OR a prestigious MBA DL program? considering that its DL anyways ....

If I may... When it comes to senior management positions education becomes a small factor, where you received your education becomes and even smaller factor. The exception may be when rolling with the good ol' boys from a top 10 school, but even then it's more about being in the "in" crowd than it is about your alma mater.

I've come to work with senior management in my organization and by virtue of my job about 12 other organizations in the past 6 months. Their education backgrounds vary widely from a Harvard/Stanford alumni to believe it or not, Bellevue University. That being said what I see they all have in common are:

1.) They work all the time. We're talking a 60 to 70 hour week is not atypical at all. Live, eat, breathe and sleep their jobs.

2.) They network with other senior management in all kinds of organizations doing all kinds of jobs, they get connected and stay connected.

3.) They read non-stop. Everything from ITIL books to project management books to books on economics or business strategy and usually end up discussing what they read or newfound knowledge and how it may apply to this or that.

4.) Almost all of them, with a rare exception, spent years, even decades working to get into their positions. They did not graduate and "BANG" suddenly their hired on as senior management. They started in early, worked hard, learned a lot, worked hard some more, learned some more, got promoted...repeat the cycle a few times over the course of about 20 years and you'll be senior management.

5.) They don't often turn down projects or opportunities to take on new initiatives if it is within their ability to take it on. These are the kind of people who understand their scope of influence and are keenly aware of how to use it and grow it.

6.) They don't let power go to their head. Oddly enough I don't see a lot of people at this level going on power trips even if I see some of the supervisors and managers who work for them doing so. They are very careful and measured.

7.) Lastly, all but two of the 12 earned their graduate degrees while at either the middle management or senior management level. One was already a senior VP of her organization when she finally earned her MBA, from the University of Texas at Dallas actually.

Getting into that senior management position is more about your work ethic, habits, daily routines, expertise and knowledge, ability to learn, continual growth, connections, sphere of influence, etc. than it is about where you earned a degree, especially if that degree was earned years ago.

I'd just find a program that you personally like, that you see fits your budget and lifestyle best and go with it. Then earn that PMP (that is important) then get into the habit of just reading, growing, learning and contributing.

Very keen observations. Of all the points you made, number 5 is one to live by. I always add the additional responsibilities to my resume. I would add that I never say "I can't do". In addition, to be successful these type of individuals need to have understanding spouses/families.
