Apparently, these "schools" are used to issue diplomas that enable massage providers to get licensed. To, you know, give massages. Yeah, that's the ticket.

No word yet on whether or not any of the schools were named Pacific Western University....

(I don't even want to know what the self-study courses covered.)

"I go out on a regular basis and speak to the students, and in some cases they don’t know they can’t perform sex acts as a massage therapist; they’re not necessarily being taught that,” Anderson said."

And they wouldn't even think to consider it is because in a number places it's pretty much expected and not considered a big deal. The fact that they aren't taught it's very different here in the United States is a part of the racket.

Somewhat off-topic: the New York Institute of Massage had a situation where they brought in an instructor who taught a good portion of the program only for the state to come in and shut the class down as it was found out the instructor wasn't qualified. Some massage schools in New York lament the difficulty of finding enough instructors to fill the high 1000 hour NYS requirement and I imagine there is some haste in trying to get instructors in to do the job as a result. I don't at all believe that a massage therapist needs 1000 hours of instruction to do that job, and I say that while being an advocate of the legitimate version of the profession, but leave it to New York to make things as difficult as possible. Don't even get me started on the crypto mess in New York.
