I guess that the author was trying to write a humorous (?) piece about Mario in the video game Mario Bros. It might have had the kernel of a good idea to start with but. it is amazingly illiterate! So I can't be sure. Perchance! (Sorry I just had to throw that perchance in there.)

    I'll guess middle school student?

The paper refers to "Philosophy 101", although this assumes this isn't just a joke.

I have seen a lot of substandard stuff in Philosophy courses, so I assume it's real. Perchance.

This guy thinks he's a comedian. Here's 8 minutes of his Youtube blather - that promises to reveal the rest of the essay - and then he says no - there is no "rest" and gives some "reasons" ? why not. I can't stand him. Maybe you can. ....Perchance.

Claims this was written as a comedy sketch and -- yeah - it's a fake essay. I don't really recommend wasting 8 minutes watching it. Very immature dude with a huge ego. 2 factors that might just help him make it in low comedy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxuPnBJCTM4

Mac, you mean you have actually seen substandard philosophy, in the land of Kant, Hegel, Schopenhauer, Lessing, Nietzche, Fromm, Schiller, Moses Mendelssohn, Hermann Cohen und so viele andere (and so many others?)

G*tt im Himmel! Who would even suspect such a thing? :) Holy Heidelberg!

Dang the timer! In this case, "Und so vielen anderen." --- it's been 60+ years. Sorry.

No, not myself, but a friend of mine worked as a tutor in Philosophy for the University of Hamburg in the early-2000s to get some direly needed Deutsche Mark in his pocket. According to him, there was more than one essay which should have gotten an F or worse ("no basis from any grading whatsoever"), but rather a telling-off like that one:

The main problem was and is, however, avoidance behaviour. The prof did not allow him to give the authors of these, um, "essays" the grade that they deserved but a "D" because, well, we don't want to discourage anyone and not disappoint anyone, and - god forbid - that they will complain or send their mommas and the new EU guideline forbids discrimination against race, sex and ability etc etc., and that behaviour is virulent in contemporary Germany and in the whole Western World, I guess...

Billy Madison was mostly incredibly dumb, but that bit and the "People to Kill" bit were utterly hilarious.
