    Hi everyone,

Im planning to get MS in Data Analytics next year at SJSU. My background is Finance. I have Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Finance in 2013 and 2016 in Vietnam with 3.5 years of experience in Business Support (paperwork, procedures, sales support...)

Because I have zero background for the program so they require "an upper-division statistics course, and a college calculus and programming course, which may be taken at the lower-division level". They suggested me that those courses might be taken through an extended program offered by a recognized university, such as UC Berkeley Extension or UC Santa Cruz Extension.

    My questions:
    1. What is the success rate to apply SJSU if I get those courses at UC Berkeley Extension.
    2. Is it difficult for a zero-background person to study those courses?
    3. Anyone here got that degree without good background, please help me share your experience, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

    Thank you!

I'm guessing that with a Masters in Finance you've got decent Math skills. You must have taken Intro to Stats. How long ago was it? What was your last Math course? If you feel that your skills are a little rusty then you could polish them up by taking a Coursera course(s) as a prep for the Berkeley courses

Are you studying online or campus at SJSU? If Online you might look at different option at different school such as
Georgia Tech's https://www.edx.org/masters/online-master-science-analytics-georgia-tech, MIT's MicroMaster in Statistic and Data Science bridging to Harvard's Master in Data Science.
