    Ying,
You don't have any idea what you are talking about. You have two chances to pass a course... then you are outa luck. If the course was a core requirement you are out of the program.
Some may finish the program in 1.5 years but 3 years or longer is much more common.
I have never heard anyone who has taken a course exclaim that the exams are anything but terribly rigorous... including those who already of graduate degrees for other prestigious schools.
As far as UK business graduate... since there are thousands of them enrolled, I would agree that they know what is going on.

You need to do some homework.

Someone who completes his/her education under the US education system may not be used to the UK examinations that are three hours duration with essay style questions. The same applies to the UK students to take the US exam. That is not strange. I have an MBA from the US school and MSc from the UK school and totally understand that.

I personally feel that MBA programs should test the students' communication, analytical skills, and entrepreneurship, decision making and other business skills, and all that can best be learned through case studies, assignments and papars submission. I personally doubt the effectiveness that the learning of business administration (especially MBA) can be in the same way as taking professional examination, e.g. accounting practising certificate (i.e. taking one three hour examination to test your business skills). Academic qualification is different from professional qualification that is further attested by practical experience (e.g. articleship in accounting and law firms).

As a student, I would choose the program with no assignment, paper,..... As an advisor, there are plenty of programs for me to advise from.

It is tired to struggle in this issue so long that this is my last response for this thread (topic).
