I finally got around to installing Linux Mint 21.1 on my "early 2015" MacBook Air. I had to look up how to get the driver installed for the wifi, but it wasn't difficult. The webcam was the only thing that required any CLI work was the webcam, but even then the recipe someone supplied was straightforward. Bye bye, MacOS!
I've had MacOS on this thing since I bought it four-odd years ago and just never liked it. The Cinnamon interface that comes with Linux Mint is already more familiar and easier to use.
I was never a Mac guy, because I hated Steve Jobs. Not going into the reasons, here. I continued to hate his company long after his demise. Then came Windows 10 - and after 25 years of Windows I suddenly hated the new version, so I switched to Linux (Ubuntu) about 5 years ago. Now I'm considering Apple - adding an IPad Pro, because my go-to lady for fashion illustration, Holly Nichols, uses one. Her take: ProCreate, the illustration software is the greatest, and is only made for the Ipad Pro. And you can use ProCreate pics in their native format with Adobe's hugely extensive illustration software on your "big machine" with the huge highest-resolution screen imaginable. If it all goes down, I've got my Vogue colouring book and 96 pencil crayons....
