You and I both tried in vain Jake...

Dave, I just want to say I'm sorry for not making a more positive contribution to this thread. I attempted to make a tongue in cheek joke in light of recent controversies elsewhere. I now realize it was completely inappropriate. I like for you and Jake to accept this public apology and for this very important thread to continue on point.

    Take care...

    Miguel,

I don't think an apology is neccesary however I have great respect for anyone who can do so in the manner you have, especially on a board full of egocentrics! Of course I accept it 100%. I have enjoyed many of your posts and am sure will continue to do so!

    Paz!

This may come across all wrong but I have noticed a trend on this board where meaningful dialogue is highjacked by banality. Less important off-topic, but in the main section I do believe we should respect somebody's appeal for information and not (for example) descend into discussing the benefits of peanut butter and candy. Time and a place...Hay tiempo para chistes y tiempo para las cosas serio! (ajudar mi amigo, quiero mejore mi espanol!)

Inevitably stated by people while holding mirrors. Or was that too banal? Not unlike complaining about traffic while being a part of it.

I'm indeed sometimes guilty Rich, are you?

You may also of noticed the use of an exclamation mark. Sometimes one can use old-fashioned grammar rather than faces to indicate the fact that one is not over-serious.

It's a shame another thread has gone this way so this post will be my last on this topic(s).

    Peace,

    Dave C.

When the discussion on a topic drops off then the off-topic noise naturally takes over. The off-topic banter is a fun part IMHO, it is not something to really be too concerned about. It is the nature of on-line discussions.

    ...and mighty be her powers...!

You may also have noticed the use of "you may also of noticed"
    instead of "old-fashioned grammar".

Undoubtably. I suspect it is common to call out things you find in others because they are also within you. Guilty as charged!
