    That particular dig may not be true, but the overall strategy of lowering the cost of a residential college experience by splitting your courses between the classroom at your degree-intention school and online though a lower cost community college is a valid one.

    Yes, you're right and as a cost cutting strategy it's effective enough. I don't mind saying though that for me personally there are elements of such advice that I find unattractive. For example, I might save some money by taking the course online instead of in the B&M classroom, but I actually enjoyed being in class with other people, with my friends, and knowing the same professor and doing assignments together, etc. etc. This idea of taking 18 credits at a time to save money is good if saving money is the highest priority but for a lot of people 15 credits is stressful enough. I guess my point is that doing things faster is not always the same as doing them better.

    Agreed. As ever, it's all about what the person's goals are. Different goals call for different approaches.
