Liz Cheney read into the congressional record some interesting apparent crimes being uncovered that also involve the ex-president and current congressional representatives. (Like perhaps some representatives that wanted to get onto the committee but were denied by Pelosi.) https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4991666/representative-cheney-reads-text-messages-urging-president-trump-speak-capitol-attack
It's amazing. For years I wanted nothing to do with anything Liz Cheney thought, said, or did. Funny how those differences look insignificant in the face of the threats to our democratic form of self-government we are experiencing. I'm looking forward to the day when I can, once again, get furious at her policy views. Not because of her--her stock in my view has gone way, way up. But a return to the more normal "Tastes Great, Less Filling" debates of yore.
I think what it is is that seeing a Republican being concerned for democracy, seeing a Republican that loves our country, seeing a Republican that is brave enough to stand up against Trump is an amazing novelty. Here's some of what the Republicans were really saying as Liz Cheney read into the record as to what the Republicans were saying to Mark Meadows on January 6. Donald Trump Jr.: "He's got to condemn this sh*t ASAP." And Sean Hannity: "Can he make a statement? Ask people to leave the Capitol?" And Laura Ingraham: "Mark, the president needs to tell people in the Capitol to go home. This is hurting all of us. He is destroying his legacy." And Brian Kilmeade: "Please, get him on TV. Destroying everything you have accomplished." But Trump did NOTHING for hours. Multiple people had to die. Many many more were injured before Trump would stop the insurrection. Not until it was absolutely clear that the rebellion had failed to stop the transfer of power. It was clear that there would not be a days long stand-off with congressional hostages he could use to try to force state legislatures to act and hand him the election. The Republican leaders are all frightened cowards except for a select few like Liz Cheney. (Worst among them is McCarthy IMHO.) The rest of the Republican base are mostly blind sheep believing Trump's lies being spread by Fox News, Newsmax, and OAN.
Right. So, all of those nimrods at Fox changed their tunes the next day and began defending the riot, the rioters, and the soon-to-be-TFG. I blame their advertisers. If those companies pulled their advertising, Fox would pay MSNBC to break Rachel Maddow's new contract by Friday.
Heck at one point even Lerner believed the silly claims that it was possibly Antifa that caused the violence. Of the 650 arrested how many are Antifa? ZERO!
Well after a year of ANTIFA (only an idea) violence and attacks in so many cities over the US, it was a possibility. Reuters Fact Check previously debunked the claims and it was sufficient for me.
It wasn't presented as a "possibility." With absolutely zero evidence, it was presented as a fact by people who wanted to distract from what was really happening. In other words, a lie.
