Is there such a thing as to many degrees?

    By the way, certificates and certifications are different. Basically they denote continuing education and professional development which in some fields is essential to survival (IT, Project Management, etc.).

    That said I no longer list certificates and certifications on my resume if they are not current and relevant to what I do. I love certificates primarily for this reason, they are tactical, lightweight and usually inexpensive (compared to a degree anyway). Yet they teach specific skills, allow for focused study and allow you to diversify your education and in some cases add some big name schools to your resume.

    That said I suppose you do not have to list every degree you’ve ever had on your resume, but talk about massive opportunity cost and negative ROI.
