Hello everyone, Just came across this school that offers an MBA for $2200: https://icieducation.com/courses/business/master-business-administration-mba/ It also claims all kinds of accreditation: International Association of Private Career Colleges (IAPCC) International Approval and Registration Centre (IARC) Member of the European Association for Distance Learning (EADL) Member of the International Vocational Education and Training Association (IVETA) Do any of these have any credibility? https://icieducation.com/about-us/
The simplest answer is often the best. Bravo! William of Ockham / Occam (1285 - 1347) would have approved, Steve. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_of_Ockham This is a career school with about ten Good Housekeeping stickers. Some of which I think are pretty iffy. Zero academic clout. * By "iffy" I mean cases where several practitioners of something unregulated say "let's start an organization that we can join to get certified and promote ourselves. Then we can get others to join and pay good money for the privilege.... But I am too wordy. Good Friar William would not approve... ** Not everyone approved of Friar William, exceedingly intelligent though he was. He was excommunicated by the Church.
This is a "private Swiss degree." By that I'm reading Cantonal license or similar. You know what standing that means and what it will / will not get you on a foreign credential evaluation in other countries. A tip-off. You don't need a bachelor's. Two years of work experience will suffice. I'm out. I was never in. Don't want a grad degree that says "Career School" on it. I have Fashion, Spanish, Programming, Photography, Landscape Gardening and Internet Specialist diplomas from "Career School" already. They're OK for that. But not for degrees. My "career school" has the nerve to offer a High School Graduation course that won't pass muster in any Province in Canada. That sucks. Glad I graduated from a real HS, back in 1959 and 1960. (Yeah, twice - Junior and Senior Matriculations then. British Style.) ... I think Dressmaking is next. Yeah, that and Interior Decoration. I'm good with colours... people tell me so, anyway.
Ooh! Aah! But It's one of those glorious Dual Awards that are so fascinating. "Part deux" of the degree is awarded by a Swiss outfit. Canton of Geneva, it appears. "The ICI MBA is a private Swiss degree accredited and granted jointly with the International Association of Private Career Colleges (IAPCC). IAPCC is an independent not-for-profit peak industry education body based in Geneva, Switzerland, as defined by Articles 60 to 79 of the Swiss Civil Code."
They say "degree accredited and granted jointly..." In North American terms, a school should be accredited - not the degree. I'm taking this to mean: (1) the schools jointly self-accredit. Or (2) that the schools DO actually "accredit" the degree - i.e. they say it meets their standards. I don't see how such "accreditation" gives this degree any standing, in the academic world, or in the marketplace. Not buying it. I think, at best, it's a case of one school - that may have legal permission to award degrees of no standing -- co-awarding degrees with a school that probably doesn't.
Yes, skip this one, even though it's considered cheap, it's not accredited, you can get something much better by reviewing your previous thread here: https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/cheapest-accredited-mba.62744/#post-595484
Or do that one here! https://www.udemy.com/course/mba_mtfi/. I do it and it is said you get an, um, "Government form of professional education certificate". The content is quite good. For only EUR 220, you get something comparable to the ICI stuff.
I'd say it's better - by being honest. They tend to throw MBA around as a word - meaning not a degree, but a combination of several business disciplines, at diploma or certificate level. Everyone else, at least everyone in the Eurozone low-price course market, does that, nowadays. I'm getting used to it. . The school that offers this says it's based in Lisbon, Portugal. Muito bem. (That's fine.) They have many offerings, including single subjects around 25 Euro. The one in Python Development looks like a really good deal. I like this school. I think I'll try them out, once I've got more done on my present stuff.
I know a very little Portuguese. This might be an opportunity to learn much more. I can handle ticky-box tests, but I'm not so sure about lectures. For now, I'm writing a song - "Cigana na Praia." (Gypsy Girl on the Beach.) When I get time for a course, I'll send this school 25 euro and see how it goes.
Great stuff... Yeah, it's advised to follow the other thread in post #8, if you're looking at inexpensive choices, stick to the recommended offerings for affordable options...
