Yes, ABHE does accredit graduate programs. My point was that the USDE only recognizes them for undergraduate accreditation, while CHEA recognizes them for both undergrad and graduate.

I don't understand the tuition rates as they exceed or equal those of the most prestigious conservative seminaries. For a "young" institution, these rates are really high.

I checked just a few schools' websites and found these tuition rates for their M.Div. programs:

    Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary $575/credit hour
    Asbury Theological Seminary $685/credit hour
The Southern Baptist Theological Sem. $475/credit hour
    Concordia Theological Seminary $689/credit hour
    Luther Seminary $633/credit hour
Reformed Theol Seminary - Charlotte $585/credit hour
    ILT $417/credit hour
Mid-America Baptist Theo. Seminary $330/credit hour after scholarship that all students receive
Fuller Theological Seminary $450/unit - most classes are 4 units

As you can see, ILT is lower per credit than all but one of the few I checked. Also, ILT is generous with scholarships.

SBTS, for those willing to attend an SBC school is about $250. More could be said on those numbers. That a novel institution that has national accreditation can charge $700 for doctoral tuition is ridiculous.

According to their website, the tuition for the M.Div. program at The Southern Baptist Theological seminary is $275 per credit hour for members of Southern Baptist churches. All others pay $475 per credit hour. Their Ph.D. program, which consists of 71 hours, has a flat rate of $26,606 for Southern Baptists and $47,250 for others. That works out to be about $374/$621 per credit hour. Trinity Evangelical Divinity School's website says their Ph.D. program is $845 per credit hour. Yes, ILT is higher in tuition for their Ph.D. program than some schools. ILT is fairly new, does not yet have the endowment that some older schools have, and has to make up for that somehow. However, stated cost per credit hour is not the only issue for students. What a school gives in scholarships can make all the difference, and I know for a fact that ILT is very generous with scholarships.

The Institute of Lutheran Theology is making significant progress in achieving ATS accreditation for its graduate programs! The plan is to keep ABHE accreditation for its undergraduate programs.

I am happy to report that the Institute of Lutheran Theology is now an associate member of ATS for their graduate programs! Associate status is a big step toward full membership. The status was attained on June 14.

ILT plans to keep the ABHE accreditation for the institution and for the its undergraduate programs.

This is quite an achievement. I trust ILT will continue to flourish.
