Do you have any comment on California Education Code section 94886? That law states (highlighting by me):

"94886. Except as exempted in Article 4 (commending with Section 94874) or in compliance with the transition provisions in Article 2 (commencing with Section 94802), a person shall not open, conduct or do business as a private postsecondary educational institution in the state without obtaining an approval to operate under this chapter."

    CA Codes (edc:94885-94892)

I think that private higher education works very well in the United States, in Japan and a few other places where it's well understood. Stanford University (Silicon Valley's flagship university) and all of the Ivy League universities are private universities. So are MIT and Cal Tech.

I've never heard of its founder and know nothing about him. In fact, apart from reading this board I've never heard of Innovation University of Silicon Valley either, despite my living right in the middle of Silicon Valley and following the local higher education scene pretty closely. I'd wager most people who live and work around here haven't heard of it either. Even the local community colleges have much bigger reputations.

I couldn't find any record of it in the California BPPE's directory.

Well, here's a little info: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hubertrampersad . It includes three websites. The founder holds a genuine Ph.D. from U. of Eindhoven, Netherlands.

All I know is that the founder has made previous attempt(s) to start schools that appear not to have lasted. Personal Branding University was one. I seem to remember another school that intended - in some way - to popularize the Java programming language as a basis for improved communications of other types. I admit I didn't fully understand the ramifications, even though I do understand programming fairly well.

There is an interesting three page thread on Personal Branding University and the other schools, from around 2011, at the sister forum. Hierophant, I think you might enjoy it.

BTW - Habib1980, do you happen to know that International Man of Mystery, Durak Al Valaby? He posts from Belgium, just like you - and hates Swiss schools ABMS and SMC just as much as you do.  I think you have quite a lot in common - if indeed you and Durak are two individuals.

Hubert Rampersad on DegreeDiscussion.com, charges of fraud, misdemeanor, etc.

The LinkedIn page of Technological University of the Americas in Suriname says: "Our campus in Silicon Valley, California, USA (Technological University of the Americas in San Jose) has already started the accreditation process in the U.S." - It's probably the founder himself who wrote that. The faculties of both "universities" don't look very convincing, it's more like one man and the rest.

Heirophant wrote: "I've never heard of its founder and know nothing about him." TruthFinder.com based on nationwide databases states that 3 criminal records for "Hubert Rampersad" in Florida were found. Who knows more? There is a blog in Dutch that tells about massive abuses and threats back in 2012. But I couldn't find more. There seems to be a connection to the ABMS degree mill in Zurich, I agree with Johann. It appears Fake University Watch knows something. I lost track of the information. There was something, but I don't remember what.
