On this day in 1941, the Empire of Japan launched a successful surprise attack on the U.S. Navy Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor. President Roosevelt stated that this date "will live in infamy" and I think he got it right. Perhaps we should remember what "dark days" really look like before we become too excited about our present national situation.
A day of infamy, indeed. And today, 76 years later, Kim Jong-un tells us nuclear war is a when, not an if. And Donald Trump talks of "Rocket Man" and "fire and fury like the world has never seen." Oh, boy -- there's no "dark day" like one with a couple of mushroom clouds! They'd better both be lying... I hope. J.
