How in-class tutorials should be organise in distance learning courses? Could the tutor/lecture ask students questions? Are students required to read material before coming to the class or is in-class tutorial introductory lecture?

Hi Olga - I'm sorry that no one has answered your question yet but I think it might be because there is no single clear answer to such a question. I have the idea that some schools handle this is a uniform manner. All courses are organized in essentially the same way. Other schools may leave it up to the individual instructor and so in such cases it will be handled in a hundred different ways. In my experience there were set reading assignments with weekly writing assignments. There was also a discussion board for conversations between the students. Sometimes the instructor would pop in and make a comment or ask a question. Participation in the discussions was necessarry for a top grade. There is no single "right way" to organize a distance learning program. Everything has it's trade-offs.
