Not to denigrate your achievement but UK universities are in a massive financial crunch. Consequently, they are accepting high numbers of non-EU students who pay full freight.

Yes, they offered to consider me for an earlier intake that would have saved me about US$2000 but I wasn't able to accept. And yes I was afraid I would be turned down in favor of someone from a developing country who probably "needs" the degree even more than I. My argument would have been that as a worker in the US financial industry, I am uniquely positioned to benefit from a degree in decision support.

Thanks. The program is an extension of the Operational Research program they have been offering for about 40 years. This focuses on providing decision support at a strategic level, as well on on traditional OR technical solutions. I found a similar program offered F2F at U of Warwick but wanted DL. A forum member here pointed out Strathclyde to me. I'm attracted to the practical focus, as well as to having a much better answer to threads about "would you go to your DL commencement?" than I do now.

Thanks for the link. Is "decision support" the same as "operations research", or a subdivision of it?

"In a nutshell, operations research (O.R.) is the discipline of applying advanced analytical methods to help make better decisions." However, I have read that a lot of OR people do other things too.

I'm just reading Essence of Decision: Explaining the Cuban Missile Crisis - so this sounds like a really exciting research area. Wishing you good luck with the degree!
