My point was mostly that equal recognition isn't an "advantage." It is a lack of a disadvantage.

If NA and RA are equivalent for your employer, and if cost is not an issue, then it's just a matter of program preference.

I personally wouldn't pursue an NA degree, but that's because I work in higher education. In my field, NA degrees don't help much. In some other fields, NA programs are entirely acceptable.

I actually wish that NA programs would be more accepted in higher ed, but higher education has a pedigree-obsessed dinosaur of a culture. Many accreditation matters seem to be related to financial matters anyway, and I'm not convinced that an institution with fewer financial resources is necessarily inferior.

You're welcome. The price seems very good as well. Good Luck.

    Thanks again all!

This info comes from the APU news letter on the NA/RA OCS question some students asked. I clipped this from one of our older posts, 2003 I believe.

    http://www.degreeinfo.com/general-distance-learning-discussions/8847-marine-corps-now-accepts-baccalaureate-degrees-nationally-accredited-institu.html

USMC POLICY: "3. ACTION. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, BACCAUREATE DEGREES FROM NATIONALLY, AS WELL AS REGIONALLY, ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR THE PURPOSE OF OFFICER CANDIDATE PROGRAM APPLICATION."

The Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard already accept bachelor's degrees from either nationally or regionally accredited institutions for officer program qualification."

    "Officer Training School (OTS) 2003

USAF Headquarters recently clarified their policy with regard to applicable credits toward Officer Training School. As a result of a petition by APUS, on behalf of a student applying to OTS, credits and degrees from nationally accredited schools are now accepted toward the qualifications."

It's accepted by the USAF too.. :headbang:

Since I will soon have an NA in addition to my RA degrees this is a moot point in my case. However the NA/RA debate goes on, and on, and on...

    Peace
