I like the way you think, though in the face of dog pack mentality, where everyone wants to kick 'em while they’re down. Seriously, I'm struck with the idea that she is an over zealous new at the job and full of inspiration. Kaplan doesn't have to go to such lengths. Someone previous said something about reporting it to Kaplan to have this curtailed. I'm sure if the board op's wanted to, they could remove the offending posts.

Do we know she was truly a part of Kaplan?

    SHILL ALERT!! :D

Sorry, I coulnd't resist. So, in your opinon, what are the top 4 key fact based factors that makes Regis a better place than Kaplan? And if you cover money as a factor, make sure your including all the hidden costs.

It's amazing how people can look at the same thing and see something completely different. I don't see anything that "cries out" in beachhoppr's sig line. Some people here choose to list their degrees, others choose not to. No problem there, just a matter of personal preference.

If you're referring to the line "Professional photographer, neverending college student.", there's no problem there either. Stating that one is a professional photographer is just a statement of fact. Calling oneself a "neverending college student" is akin to calling oneself a "life-long learner". That's an admirable goal and hopefully one to which we all aspire, whether the source of the learning is traditional classroom or non-traditional learning.

You said it yourself already, I see things differently, and I'm not playing on your words. I'm merely pointing out something most people take as benign and bring it to the forefront and question it. Not in a threatening or confrontational way, at least that’s never my intention. I just want people to notice the little things, like OXPECKER, and think "what’s that all about now. What are they trying to tell me? What is the message?"

This thread gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "dumb as a post."

I fully understand your need to stand up and back your other senior members.

I'm new here, today I’ve sent my 1st posts, I've been giving what I thought were helpful nice posts of feedback. Then a member slants me, I provide an honest explanation, and now you, a senior member insults me. Is this what DegreeInfo.com is all about, how they treat new members? I hope not, I thought this was a decent place and was planning on frequenting here. Tell me, should I continue to visit and correspond?

    jpquinn,

I understand you point, as I learned the hard way here to be thick skinned. I think, for the most part, that the discussion stays on track, but every once in a while, the personal insults fly around, and everybody eventually goes back and licks their wounds. (The more you post, the more you will see that posts starting like this will only go from bad to worse).

If you call the group a dog pack mentality, be ready for the group to respond. You made some solid statements up front, then are becoming timid. Stand strong, I like the minority opinion to be heard (as I seem to have been on more than one instance)!!!!!

    ;)

Also, I would wait for a thread discussion that really has some substance to it to get into a real debate, this is just plain silly here.

When I said dog pack mentality, I meant that as 'in general', it's all a part of human nature, not to be pinned on only one or two, everyone, including me, does it. Why, b/c it's fun, it's what sells newspapers. But I can see what you mean, I've not been here long enough for people to make sense out of my warped ways yet.

I sure hope there isn't a lot (or darn little (come on, look where we are)) of "my DL is better than your DL" going on out here.

This seems like it's going to be a nice addition to compliment the Online tools of D/L'ing as I plod along for the next ~2.5 years as a virtual student.

    Woof?

Was I referring to you specifically? I hadn't been aware of that.

Of course, now that you mention it...your helpful nice posts have had a number of whacks at people over things ranging from sig lines to conspiracies so immense...and then you claim immunity from criticism (which in bathetic fashion you deem an insult) because you're new...and nothing you have posted really addresses the fact that shilling isn't permitted here.

    Oy.

    JP Quinn,

since you decided to call me out I will respond. However, know this, I will not enter into any type of back-&-forth between you and I because I feel that based on reading your postings that you would probably enjoy it!

First of all, calling me a shill? I am just a dumb ass who enrolled in the wrong school a couple years ago, lost money, and fortunately stumbled onto Degreeinfo.com and got some good advice...which is what led me to shake off the bad experience and get a College Degree. Now I have several degrees and I support what degreeinfo is all about because they helped me personally!

Second, I hate Regis! I dropped out of Regis after only one-class! They are the hardest school that I have ever attended...and I include Ranger School in the Army in that group. It was so mentally challenging that I couldn't bear to take another course from them. However, they are a good school. In fact, as much as I hate them US News shows them as a Tier I School and they come highly recommended by members of several discussion boards. So, I wouldn't even mention them in the same sentence with Kaplan. I feel that in conducting research on all of the schools that I mentioned (As well as mentioned by Kaplan in their price comparison chart), I am qualified to say that Kaplan does not measure up to any of the schools that they mention except when it comes to "so-called" price.

Every school has costs associated with taking their courses. Kaplan is no different! They don't list the costs on the link on the website...so are their additional costs hidden?

Know this, I shill for noone! Just because I have the status of Senior Member does not mean that I would go to bat for someone if I thought that they were wrong. I have been studying my pathway to my education for several years and I joined this forum years ago...

and I have noticed throughout those years that some people come along and make no significant contributions, but want to stir up things, test the system, question the hierarchy, and try to turn things on its side.

    Nothing Left

    Beachhoppr,

He ran out of things to attack...that's why he mentioned your sig line. Uh oh, I shouldn't talk to you...that's conspiritous/shillish behavior!

In no way do I support shilling, it's a darn shame she did it. I am surprised the moderators let that out to be posted on the board, or at least erase by now as it's not allowed.

Why are we still blathering on about this any way?

You guys sure like to go overboard; perhaps your bored like me enjoying a nice quite house while on vacation.

I reviewed all my posts; I fail to see where I made a number of whacks on anyone, seriously. Your quite wrapped around the axel about this and I think it has nothing to do with me, but some personal agenda of yours.

You just happend to laugh in the next post, so I pointed out sigs. Sigs area personal ad in a way,a personal Shill if it were. I meant nothing by it to you personally, but if you want to take it that way, know yourself out. This is all so pointless.

I'd Trade MOS' with you anyday!!

There is nothing lowly about being a medic! At least you knew how to go out and fix life...instead of just Demo'ing it. Also, I'll bet that correlated well with civilian life! Trying putting the fact that you were a career "grunt" on your resume' and then put on a suit and tie looking for a job. I was not qualified to even clean bathrooms when I looked for my first job (actually, I was overqualified for cleaning toilets)! 11BX40V
that means something to me...but it didn't mean anything to any employer. That's why I started looking for college. And that's what led to most of the mistakes I made when I started taking online/correspondence courses. I got all kind of meaningless certs. from all over the place!
