How Nano Robots Will Change Medicine Forever Modern medicine is becoming increasingly powerful, but the struggle to deliver those medicines to where they are needed within the body remains a huge challenge. Could harnessing nature to make nanorobots to deliver these treatments be the next great revolution in medicine? 0:00 The Future of Medicine 1:24 How Does Medicine Get Into The Cell? 2:11 The Power of Small Molecules 4:24 Biology's Most Powerful Medicine 6:13 The First Nanorobot 11:26 Are We There Yet?
Nano-bots have been "the coming thing" for a LONG time. I first read an anticipatory story (what the future would look like) about them more than 30 years ago. I'll not see them, I'm pretty sure. Maybe others here will. I hope so. The story was great. All those little bots marched through an artery and clobbered all the cancerous cells in a woman's incipient tumor. Every one. One painless treatment and she was completely well. I hope - I hope - I hope this comes true.
Decades ago, I read a non-fiction speculative book about future technologies or maybe it was focused on nano-tech specifically. IIRC, it was mostly positive. But I think there was also a mention of the grey goo scenario.
Right. I'd hate to see a really good thing go horribly bad. But as this article points out - walled gardens are good. Very interesting stuff on grey goo effect and avoiding it, here. https://gizmodo.com/gray-goo-scenarios-and-how-to-avoid-them-1724622907 Maybe they should NOT do this kind of research --- in Wuhan. Anywhere else - OK.
