I suspect that he is on his way out soon. Mainstream Media went from being quiet about his issues, then defending him, to more and more articles noting defections and desires for him to go. Obama came up again and Sen Schumer's non endorsement bland comment (mentioned on NPR this morning) from his visit with Biden at his Beach House. To top it off just a little while ago CNN put out a story about Biden having trouble remembering who his Defense Secretary was. This is like the Soviet Union where there are hints until they make the announcement. Better for the Republicans that the Democrats hang on to Biden and Harris.
"Journalist and Newsmax commentator Mark Halperin said Thursday that multiple sources have told him embattled President Joe Biden plans to withdraw from the presidential election as early as this weekend, with Sunday most likely. "According to multiple Democratic sources, this is happening all of a sudden," Halperin told "Carl Higbie FRONTLINE" from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. "Everyone said it would happen gradually and then all at once. And that's what's happening. According to my sources, President Biden has agreed to step down as the Democratic nominee. It will happen as early as this weekend. "A speech has been drafted for him. He will continue on as president. He also will NOT, I'm told, endorse Vice President [Kamala] Harris as his successor. They're hoping that he will endorse an open process in which the convention will be open to Vice President Harris and a few other candidates in Chicago to pick the Democratic nominee for president."
The part with Harris is a good way out. There was concern about having her as the nominee and her competence/ability to win but on the other hand not wanting to offend their African-American Base by not choosing the first black female vice president. This way, she can compete for it with anyone else trying to become the nominee. Plus they get a fresh Presidential nominee and vice president. Fresh ticket.
You could have stopped there. I have Sunday evening in the office pool. But the rest of it? We'll see, of course, but I'll wait for a reliable source.
The other side's ticket is Trump/Vance, yet what people should be concerned about is Harris' "competence". Talk about bias. If this comes to pass, I will have some concern about a new nominee's ability to do the job (in my opinion, Biden is very effective, hard to replicate by someone with less experience and personal touch). But the Dems would NOT be able to pick someone less competent than Trump/Vance, even if they go completely off the rocker and out of the left field (Oprah? Taylor Swift? ). They simply do not have THIS MUCH insanity.
Well, the people around Biden have been surprisingly effective given that the guy they work for has lost his marbles. If the eventual Democrat in this race wins, they'd do well to keep that team in place.
Well, "personnel is policy", so this is not really a criticism. Also, are you seriously suggesting the guy on top doesn't matter?
I could post a long list of this Administration's accomplishments. Or resort to posting videos of Pete Budigieg's interviews. Insulin for 35 bucks a month, people. Gun reform passed in a split Congress. Infrastructure bill. Government funded without major concessions to House Republicans. Grandpa knows his stuff.
I suppose I meant it as praise by faint damnation. No, which is why I said "surprisingly" and "given that...."
Biden's people are reportedly insisting he will remain at the top of the ticket in November. Better for Trump - Vance if Biden - Harris remain in place than dealing with new dynamics. Trump appears to have the edge but there is still time before the election. Already saw someone commenting that a bullet couldn't stop Trump but mild COVID stopped Biden. Not intended seriously. Interesting times.
"We" know no such thing. Unless you are the President's doctor or either Jill or Hunter, you know no such thing either. I'm at a loss as to why would you say something so blatantly false.
