It's where we stay when traveling to Niagara Falls. I was there last Oct, it was really nice. My other encounter with Buffalo was being stuck due to winter storms, freeway closures and lots of snow.
Or, come to Phoenix. It's 114 right now (at nearly 6pm). When we sold the house in Tucson and moved here, we gave up our pool. But we did put in a hot tub, which we will enjoy this evening. A hot tub? On a night like this? Yes, because we got the "cool zone" feature, where we can lower the temperature as low as the 60s. (You wouldn't want to do that.) We'll lower it to the low 90s and it will feel positively cool. It's been our refuge these past two summers.
It is now 10:45pm here in Arizona. (That's 11:45 for the rest of the Mountain Time Zone.) It's still 102 degrees. And yes, the spa was lovely this evening. I can't wait to move!
In the year 2000 I was working in Phoenix, 4 days a week, on a project. We used to play tennis at 6 AM, it would be a nice 80 degree temp. I recall the customer parking was shaded only for the company employees, so our cars parked on open sun parking and at 5 PM even with sun shield etc., it was impossible to touch the car. I remember my team and I felt great. The favored phrase was that who ever invented AC deserves a Nobel Prize. I prefer PX, AZ over Florida.
Some Miami-based friends told me that they're summering in the mid-Atlantic this year to avoid what's predicted to be a bad hurricane season. So as much as I love Florida, you may be right to prefer a warm place somewhere else.
I endured temps regularly in the 120’s in Saudi Arabia at the end of my Gulf War deployment. It can’t even be described; it actually hurts to breathe, like you’re inhaling fire. But it’s a dry heat!!!
