I think the "continued flapping" is because there is a potential for this to bring tremendous bad publicity on the degree mills.

If you don't like it, don't read it.

    Why don't you like it?
Why must you read and respond to things that you don't like? Is there a connection between you doing that and Jeff being your friend even though you don't like him? :)

Callahan had choices and picked the very worst. California Coast would have given her a legal standing, Hamilton none. She obviously has skills and ability. Obtaining a State Approved diploma or better, one of the easier Distance RA schools, would have kept her out of trouble. A degree mill diploma is useful only for framing and looking at, it can't be used. Unless you run short of toilet paper.

Maybe talk to the administrators of the site. I'm sure they will be happy to give you priveleges to remove posts and ban users that you don't like. Old buddy.

    James:

Had she sought a State Approved/Licensed School, like CalCoast, Pacific Western, SCUPS, or even Century, there would be more legitamacy, as these schools have some minimal regulatory oversight, and require the earning of a degree.

Hamilton has no regulatory oversight whatsoever, as it is claims exemption due to religious decree. If they at least issued only Theological degrees, this would be acceptable.

If she claimed her degree was from a CA-Approved School, she could claim her degree was at least legally issued, and met regulatory oversight. The problem is though, that even if her degree were from CalCoast - some media personality could harp on the fact that it was issued via open-book tests, is unaccredited. This happened to an Austrailian Professor, who earned a degree from PW-CA, the concern was that despite meeting CA regulatory approval; the school is unaccredited.

Cehi: If your assertions are correct, I guess same could be the case for those appointed staff by Bush who hold such doctorate degrees from CCU, etc. I don't know if it is right or wrong, I know that the appointed staff prominently indicated their CCU degrees in their respective dosiers. But, nobody has challenged their degrees. These staff now work fulltime at their positions.

Hey RJT- Coast could be defended successfully. Hamilton is beyond any sane excuse. What can she say? I didn't know, they tricked me. Nope, there's nothing left except resignation, and in a few months a company will quietly hire her at fire sale cost. She has contacts in government, and knows some of the hidden secrets. Someone is going to hire an experienced business executive with some really nice contacts, and for a bargain price.

I wonder if she will use as her defense the fact that she has been clearly stating for years that her PhD is from Hamilton and that she has been continually promoted on merit in spite of it. If she had been required to present an accredited BS for her government job, and she used the Hamilton one instead, she could be charged with misrepresentation. I'm thinking that publicly stating she had a crappy degree (that wasn't required for her job no matter what it was) may not be a chargeable offense. All this aside, the storm of controversy will force TR to rethink his CIO appointments.

    She's Not Scamming Anyone

Who is she scamming? She can obviously do the job just fine. The addition or subtraction of a piece of paper on her wall does not affect her job performance.

I believe that a person in a position of authority should have a certain level of integrity. It would seem to me when someone fabricates their whole academic background, it is an indication that they may not possess that required level of integrity. I also point out the fact that she apparently was under some scrutinity earlier for threatening some employees because they told the truth about a mistake made by her department. This would also seem to indicate a lack of integrity. Of course, this whole argument assumes that you don't want a dishonest fraud in charge of an important government function. :D

    Integrity?

Then again we have tons of Harvard and Yale grads in government who are the antithesis of integrity. lol

My degree is RA. But in my opinion, it's more what you can do instead of what a piece of paper says. I mean, to average/above average college graduates, a lot of these schools that people graduate from here on this forum are crap. Touro? Capella? Walden? Sure these schools are RA, but completely at the bottle of the academic barrel as far as reputation. There is a thin line between a Capella graduate for instance and a diploma mill degree holder with actual professional experience. 99.9% of HR people are not going to know the difference between Capella and Almeda. It's a thinner line that most people here would like to admit.

I beg to differ. If for no other reason, Capella's ubiquitous adds in SHRM publications and website, have made HR personnel much more familiar with Capella.

    Re: Integrity?

Did I understand your argument correctly? You were arguing that an academic fraud with work experience is as good as what? A thief with work experience? Perhaps a rapist with work experience? An embezzeler with work experience? A mugger with work experience? A pathological liar with work experience? A fan of child poronography with work experience? A liar with work experience? A shoplifter with work experience? You are arguing that all these are separated by a thin line from someone with an RA degree and work experience?

    I am somewhat confused.

From (atlas 1212)- There is a thin line betwee a Capella graduate and a diploma mill degree holder with actual professional experience.

A diploma mill is an authorized institution to evaluate professional experience? I don't think so.

    Diploma

What I am saying is, that to you guys, the differences between diploma mill school names and low end RA degrees is clear. But to HR people, it's not. In a perfect world, all HR people would use the scrutiny that Microsoft or some other huge corporation would use. But there are thousands of jobs out there where the people doing the hiring would not be able to tell one bit of difference between Almeda let's say and Walden. I also believe firmly that even though some degrees are RA, they are still looked at as bottom of the barrel.
