If I ever get my head back into the game of education for employment, I may take the MSIS at Strayer. Getting the B.S. was life changing in many ways, and I am very content with the results. I don't see the M.S. being as valuable enough right now to pursue it the way in needs to be pursued. I want to spend some time studying what I want to study, not what I "need" to study. Huzzah :)

    Re: Strayer rep

    Heya, Sean!

Thanks for the Bellevue input - for what it's worth, I'm starting Touro's MSITM program in October, but wondered about Bellevue's MIS. My wife had some pretty horrendous experiences with UOP's group projects (i.e. did all the work, 5 other people got the credit, adjunct could care less).

As for another tangential point, a young Captain I work with just finished an AMU History Grad Degree (concentrated in guerilla warfare or something along those lines, if I remember right), and he loved it. Did it for the same reasons you stated; personal growth and enjoyment.

(As for Richmond, My cousin works a lawyer there, and she loves it. Let me know if you need any info.)

As for the point of this thread? I'm getting job inquiries/offers a year out from retirement from the military, and not one peep has been uttered about where/when/how I earned the undergrad degree. It seems that having that square filled is sufficient, but as a caveat let offer that it's different from my perspective - 20 years experience/certifications/degree. For someone just starting out, college and GPA may be more important.

I've had more questions about "Where is Coastal Carolina University?" than about my Excelsior DL studies.

And as soon as I tell them "Coastal Carolina is in Myrtle Beach SC..." they assume I partied my way through 4 years at the beach.

    :D I did!

Ted, I love excessive traffic, depressed wages, gang violence, high crime rates, the lack of culture and so much more...That's what made Tacoma an "All-American City", right? :D

Actually, Virginia is like a playground to me. History everywhere, and when I get bored with that I can go the beach or DC or the hot springs or... There doesn't seem to be any reason to get bored in Virginia. At least I've never been bored. Maybe I'll see if I can get bored on my new screen porch listening to the frogs and crickets...Goodness, I can't wait to go!

Oh, and if anyone wants to know if a DL degree is useful, my Bellevue degree helped get me a 100% raise (well into six figures) at a Fortune 500 company in Henrico, Virginia.
