    This potentially makes it sound like they're holding out for the jobs they think they should have, rather than the ones the market for labor is telling them they can get. But I suppose there are other explanations.

    Either way, though, that there's still an earnings boost suggests that higher education isn't being oversold in either country.

    "Education at all costs" is absolutely the theme of the 2000's (in my not so humble opinion) which works because people believe they both (a) need a degree (b) will receive a financial ROI.
    The majority of Americans are willing to finance their degree, and few high school students DON'T go directly to college (80ish% head STRAIGHT THERE).
    What continues to interest me, is the completion rate of roughly 1/2 and the student debt / default / deferral rates being so enormous... No one is in the least bit alarmed by this. They still keep marching ahead.
    Yes, education is being oversold.
