Hello, I'm looking into getting some sort of MBA (possibly an MHA) and am trying to narrow things down. I have 15 years experience with clinical, IT and management roles. I already have a BS in Engineering from my early college days. I am leaning towards an MBA, and I think I would prefer some sort of Healthcare focused MBA, but am open to good arguments for/against if someone has a better plan. My thinking is that MBA with a HC focus gives me a "plain" MBA back-up, on the off chance I do leave healthcare, but also is not a generic MBA with no HC classes at all. I thought about an MHA as well, but that would certainly lock me into HC. I considered an MS in Healthcare admin, but I figured that if I do well and get promoted, sooner or later I would want (or need) an MBA/MHA, so I might as well just do it now and get it all over with. Does anyone have recommendations for good MBA programs, preferably with some sort of HC classes? I prefer 100% online since campus visits could be a pain with work. I also would prefer schools with a B&M presence, to prevent any possible problems with people that dislike online only schools. Money most likely won't be a problem, but please assume money isn't an issue, I'd rather rank schools based strictly on how good they are, then think about money. What about AACSB vs regional accred? Since I most certainly will not be going into academics, does this really matter? I have searched here and on geteducated, and found several schools, but wanted to see what people here thought, since hopefully y'all have more hands-on knowledge about them. Thanks for all advice!
You'll likely get a lot of good suggestions, but this is the one that always had my attention when I was considering the MHA: ATSU - School of Health Management - Prospective Students
Did my MBA in HC Management through Touro University International - then TUI University - Now Trident. Would avoid this school.
Here's the big list DL MBA - U.S. Regionally Accredited - AggieTechie You could sift through it over the weekend.
Well thanks for linking this one. Interesting school with several options. I'm going to have to consider this one in the next few months. Doctor of Health Sciences Online | A.T. Still University
I have to give a shout out to the MBA program I'm currently enrolled in, Ashford's MBA with a concentration in Health Care Admin. I've had my moments with it where I was beyond frustrated, but it's a solid program and I'm learning things even when I think I'm not (I actually found myself saying something about calculating a return on investment in a conversation the other day and I actually knew what I was talking about! lol)
