Hello everyone from a LONG-time lurker, short-time "member", and almost non-existent poster. I am 40 something going back to school to finish the degree I should have many, many years ago. I have not really suffered that much for lack of it. I have worked in IT on both the customer, VAR, and manufacturing side in both engineering, sales, and management for better than 20 years. However, I do really need to have it - it's almost (or is!) an embarrassment to not have it as many around me have grad degrees. I'm happy to say that I finally enrolled in SUNY Empire in January, and hope to graduate this year. I say hope because you don't really know at Empire until they approve your degree plan and approve your previous credits. If anyone wants any info on Empire I'd be happy to provide it - I've done a little of that on a couple of threads already. It works well for me, but I'll give the good and bad. My plan is immediately to enroll in an MBA program once I graduate. Then I would like to follow that up with a MS in IS or CS. Now that I'm doing it I want to go all the way! Thanks everyone for all the info on this board - it's been awesome to me. I did a ton of research on this and other boards, as well as a zillion school sites to find the right one for me. Don't take that as a huge endorsement for Empire - it was right for me - that doesn't make it right for everyone. If I had a few things different in my past credits and goals I think I would have gone to UoWY, but now I'm glad I choose Empire. T.G.
Hi TG - What's your handicap? I'm glad to see an Empire person back on the site. I hope you'll keep us appraised of your progress.
Will do - just finishing up the first semester of 4 classes this week...gonna be a crazy week. I have no reference for courses elsewhere, but writing, writing, and more writing is how they judge you at Empire. I'm currently a 9 hc, trying to be a sub-5, but sometimes playing like a 12. I would say I hope this will be the year I get to that 5 target...but school, wife, kids, job,...life...may have to say something about that.
Ohhh TG, you're a bad, bad boy. If you're shooting 9 then that just has to mean that you're not doing your homework.
